Des Hasler Sacked ( AGAIN)

Funny how the same people who continually whinge about the penny pinching owners take their side regarding what happened in 2011.

The 2008 Grand Final win was arguably the greatest moment in this clubs history. The man who engineered that win (+250 games played) will always be a Manly legend, and I feel kind of sorry for those who think otherwise. But to each their own.

Article includes this vaguely suggestive (probably made up) comment:

To add to the Titans woes, captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui over the weekend put club officials on notice when saying the club needs some direction.

Manly should be all over Tino just in case he needs a change of scene at this stage of his career (only via unconnected 3rd parties of course). This guy is like a modern Ian Roberts

His first stint coaching Manly was as good as it gets.

But he was never the same once he didn’t have Tooves and Singe as part of his coaching staff.

Also Tooves doesn’t get enough credit for taking an aging side to 3 top 4 finishes in a row (and an almost minor premiership with multiple stars on the verge of retirement), even if the players knew how to play

Of course Des is a Manly legend… no one can ever take away from him the things he achieved in Maroon and White and as a premiership winning coach…

I just have no time for him after the way he blew the place up after the GF win and I have not shed a tear for his lack of success since… if Penn and co treated him so badly, then why did he come back?

that 2008 side was a hell of an outfit and Des has found out that the grass is not always greener… richer maybe but not greener…

Not trying to convince anyone else, just my thoughts…

For no other reason than they simply needed each other - i.e. Manly had no coach and were desperate for one; and Des had no job and was desperate for one.

It was a pure and simple marriage of convenience between two parties that couldn't stand each other.
(and at the very first opportunity that would arise one would try to screw the other)

That team was a once in a generation side. With players like Killer and the Stewart boys they didnt need a lot of coaching.

Des hasler was a great coach in his time. He took over the burning wreckage that was the failed Northern Eagles and built a champion team from nothing that saw us come from the bottom of the comp to a premiership force for a number of years . He was also quite successful at the dogs taking them to two grand finals. He certainly did some things that I did not like but I don’t think anyone can deny he was a great coach in his time… if true farewell Des I wish you a happy retirement and hopefully at some point he will engage the club again as he will always be remembered as a Manly great….

Unless perhaps you were involved with the club during his playing days, all we knew was he was a fitness freak but did not see much about his personality. Many players would comment he was quiet, and so polite that he was always saying 'sorry'. Did that become his nickname even?

It didn't surprise many of us that he became a trainer for nsw blues and coaching lower grades, but do wonder when his difficult personality arrived.
As a school teacher he would lie and say it wasn't him playing for Manly.
Then Michael O'Conner or Blake would pick him up.

The NRL has moved away from Des, origin is a step to far in my opinion, as a blues fan, I wouldn’t be happy to see Hasler appointed, don’t think I’ll need to worry too much about it in any case, he’d be 100’s going on his recent record.
