MANLY will travel to Townsville for an unprecedented four days in a desperate bid to overcome powerhouse North Queensland this weekend.

The Sea Eagles will leave today for north Queensland - much earlier than normal - to acclimatise to the humid Townsville conditions.

Manly will train today and tomorrow in Townsville, play Saturday night and return on Sunday afternoon.

"We've never gone up this early before," said Manly chief executive Patrick Wilson. "It has been raining and it's steamy up there.

"We want to get used to the conditions. The coach [Des Hasler] wants to give us every chance of winning."

Manly will be craving a win after falling 27-14 to underdogs Canberra last weekend at Brookvale Oval.

THE NRL and RLPA will hold their first meeting to determine a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

It will be the first of a series of meetings.

The current CBA expires at the end of this year.

CANBERRA chairman John McIntyre wants a coach with "profile" to replace the departing Matt Elliott next year.
"We need a guy with profile to overcome the problem we have of attracting class players," McIntyre said.

"As much as we need a coach, we need players that other players want to play alongside."
