Elgey Improving

Egley's defense has improved out of sight and that was his major weakness. I expect to see huge steps in his attacking game over the next 2 months that his new defensive confidence will inspire. He will relax a bit and find time.

He has passing and kicking skills, is learning and could become a VERY good 6 or 7 before years end.

What do you think of Wighton at 5/8 for the Raiders? He’s a big fast running 5/8 type, and looked good vs the Broncs.

Against the poor defensive efforts put up yesterday by Brisbane, just about anyone could have looked good. If the Raiders had a 5/8 like one of their old boys, say....Laurie Daley, they wouldn't have won by just 4 points. It would have been a thrashing.

A very tough playing competitor, size, footwork and speed and can hit the line at pace, defensively can play tough also.

Canberra are now focusing on increasing his skillset and ball playing side as primarily he has only had to show his running skills up to now, at 26 is probably just about right but Canberra will have to be patient with him.

Personally i would prefer a player who's prime skills are ball playing first and a running game that compliments not the other way around, i do think he can develop though as i like his competitive nature----not a player you purchase at 27(next year) to develop as a 5/8 into a "another" clubs system.
