ELGEY

RLW just said on Twitter, deal is done, to be announced later today.

$600k for 2 years

If that's right plenty of $$ left over for a couple of good forwards !!
That is a great deal. Hated it at 450 a year considering what Reynolds and Keary resigned for, but love it @ 300...

If that's correct that's a good get I thought we may have had to pay a bit more.

I have been a bit tough on Kelly/Penn but I have considered my position and it looks like they are making some good decisions.

I love the fact they re signed 3 of our young local talent and with a youngster like Elgey I'm pumped.

I much prefer we go done a youngster path with a couple of hard heads in the pack.

If he has a huge 2016 I'd expect Manly to up his contract.

Only concern is that makes a LOT of our players off contract in 2017!

Ask said elsewhere, now for two hard nosed props and yeah baby the Eagles are back in 2016.

Yeah Mark true but a lot of them will be done - Matai, Killer, Matty B - that clears up dollars for re-upping these guys. Plus increased cap so it should be fine. TBH - not really in the kids best interests to sign beyond that. DCE is in the same position too. He can opt out after 2017 and do a new deal.

2017 though Mark Snake,Matai,Ballin and Lyon all gone and salary cap increased so plenty of money in our cap.

I suspect this time next season we try to extend them again.

ELGEY SIGNS WITH MANLY
Written by RLW STAFF WRITERS, April 28, 2015

MANLY have seemingly taken revenge on the Gold Coast Titans by snaring the prized signature of boom halfback Kane Elgey on a two-year deal.

According to RLW’s The Mole, the crafty 21-year-old will replace premiership halfback Daly Cherry-Evans who will join the Titans on a mega four-year deal in 2016.

The Titans wanted to keep Elgey and play him alongside Cherry-Evans in the halves after the club had allowed five-eighth Aidan Sezer to join Canberra in 2016.

But Manly’s $600,000 offer over two years trumped that of the Gold Coast and now all eyes will be on the youngster to lead the northern beaches club into a bright new era.

Manly are expected to announce the signing of Elgey as early as Tuesday afternoon. The big news comes off the back of the re-signing of local trio Clint Gutherson and Jake and Tom Trbojevic until the end of 2017.

Players prices have just sky rocketed over the last few years. remember when Sandow was signed on 550 and that was considered massive overs for a promising half.
In saying that Sandow isn't fit to lace LG boots

I am over the moon they finally found a Pen

Yep that's the story on Twitter, I just don't know how to insert from an IPhone but didn't need to worry I knew either @HappilyManly or @bones would do it.

Deal described as "mega". $300,000 for each of first two years - sounds reasonable; certainly not excessive. Then I suppose there are incentives and payment increases for the next two years . . .
