Fainu re-signs to 2021 (inclusive).

Rumours going around that Koroisou to Eels announcement Christmas Day. Could justify Fainu's signing not announced by the club, yet.
Yeah i seen that on Twitter space, that said they link adams aka mole on it and he said nor liked it. It would be weird one, fainu needs alot of work on his defence. Api is alot different to most 9s in league but we missed him alot when he was injuried.
My other thought they found a centre and need cap space.

I have no idea where people get the idea that Fainu's D needs all this work?

2018
Api missed tackle average - 4 per game
Fainu -1.2 per game

Agree .... he doesn't hit like Api, but he makes the tackle .... I think he just suffered with the speed of FG and his fitness for long minutes ..... a good preseason and experience will see his defense just fine ....

.. and PSS ... he was just a 20 year old rookie last year .... of course ALL aspects of his game will need work and improvement ...

Unless some other club has offered A P I significantly more money that , as in Lane "s case , Manly are not prepared to match , will be surprised if he moves else where . All things normal , just can not see the club interested in letting him go . Fainu is still essentially in the rookie category , excellent prospect but where would the back up be for him then . Cust or Croker , hardly .. A P I "s strong defence [ leg tackles ] and high work rate was very important in many of his past career matches for Manly , Fainu :s defence is O K but with his tendency to initially go high , ball and all , he is going to concede quite a few meters most times . Again can only see some much better offer for A P I to go elsewhere and that would prompt him to leave , like others quite confident that A P I and Fainu could work in a very effective tandem or rotation 9 arrangement , Des would surely have to have a good or quite satisfactory plan B to cover the 9 role for Manly if A P I does unfortunately move on .

Hinting he is off to Parramatta

Yeah, well they have now released both Norman and Hayne ? so should have some spare cap space . Guess that most rumors have some basis so of course nothing can be rules out . Still would be disappointing to see him [ A P I ] gone, not to far from S O O level a couple of seasons ago as things were then .

If they wanted to get rid of Api why did they just extend him ?? I know that it's a new coach, but with the salary cap drama we couldn't register any contracts until that was over, and by that time Tuberculosis was on the nose so they must have known they would have a new coach in 2019. So it seems strange to me to extend Api and now to be allegedly shopping him around. Sounds like BS to me

Makes sense. API is everything but a DES coached team styled hooker. Croker is probably way more suited to what Dashing will want, and at a fraction of the price.

Let the Haslerfication begin.

Agree this is also about freeing up cap space for a centre Given greenturds spin I reckon Walker is cooked. Don’t forget TH can fill in at hooker as well.

So is the 2-year mormon mission off the table then?
That would be a mistake if he goes on a mission.

I wish the Tongans clubbed the Mormon who arrived there and converted them. A silly new religion just as silly as the old version. If another version of the faith had arrived first they would be converted to that one, and wouldn’t go on missions during their peak football years.

Need to see this stat relative to minutes played and tackle attempts to offer some meaningful data.

More minutes tends to lead to more tackles made, exhaustion can lead to more missed tackles at the back end of each half.

I would prefer a hooker with strong forearms and crisp strength behind the pass, along with passing off the ground with decisiveness, not pick up look around and throw a weak short predictable pass.

Being able to pass long with crispness offers more variety and can stretch the middle defense more, otherwise the defense can tighten up around the middle and nullify many short plays with defensive numbers

To me sharpness out of dummy half is secondary to quality intelligent ball distribution, having both would be great though.

Yes sharpness out of dummy half is important to have, less so if refs continue blowing the whistle and creating stoppages. (i'm in favour of blowing the whistle by the way)

Manly lack a smart composed intelligent player, this is where having a smart intelligent coach can bridge that gap.

Cameron Smith is like Larry Bird of the NBA, high game IQ, not all that fast out of dummy half, not even all that great with ball distribution at times, but always one step ahead of others.

mmmmm. You could have something here TC. Strong forearms, Hodgko can play hooker and have you seen the latest pics of him, he seems to have bulked up a fair bit

How many more players do we have to shed before we are ok. We seem to be shedding more players than any other club and look at the Tigpies the strife they are in and they supposedly dont have to get rid of anyone, same with the sharks. If we keep shedding, we wont have a team
