FORMER Queensland State of Origin star Dale Shearer, 43, is fighting for his life after a high-speed car crash.
Shearer's Porsche failed to take the roundabout on the Sunshine Motorway at Peregian Springs on Queensland's Sunshine Coast about 11pm and crashed into a culvert.
He was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital with ``life-threatening'' injuries, according to police.
He remains in a critical condition.
The incident comes one year after Shearer's wife Delyse died of cancer aged 39. Shearer has two teenage sons.
The former Manly star played 20 Tests for Australia.
He played 26 Origin matches for Queensland between 1985 and 1996, scoring a record 12 tries for the Maroons.
He is currently involved with the Coolum Colts Rugby League Club on the Sunshine Coast.
