Galvin

Media hype. It started before he played FG. His junior footy had the media calling him the next Nathan Cleary. Then, when he debuted at such a young age, it perpetuated the narrative. He did some good things and the Tigers still collected the spoon. This year, he has been a non event.

From my observations, he is pretty limited. There’s a cut out pass that is not even a spiral, a step and an offload, and a grubber kick in behind the line for his centre. Outside of those three options, not a lot else at this stage. He is not explosive, not super quick, rarely passes short at the line, and does not have an effective long kicking game. I think he is a lock forward.
He’s also got an issue with forward passes. Have seen so many let go from him but plenty pulled up. Often they are short passes and that may link to him not digging into the line enough.

Ps doesn’t have the defense for 13. Not yet anyway.

Also. Why do people in the media keep saying "he's a big body"? He's a beanpole. I've done bigger dumps than him (I was going to say ****s but I've just realised that it gets censored so decided not to)

Which reminds me of the curious story by Danny Weidler about DCE the very day before he himself broke the story about DCE not playing for Manly in '26 and DCE's appearance on Nine...

Sources at the NRL, not authorised to speak publicly, tell me Cherry-Evans will not break the bank for the Sea Eagles, or another club, if he wants to play next year. The Eagles have been told he will be valued by the NRL at $400,000, or even less, on the salary cap.

Full story, thanks to @Wombat64....

I'm surprised so many supporters are not aware of the Fair market value rule.
Although I think your google search for fair market value may have dragged up a discontinued paragraph - I can't see it anywhere on the current NRL site.

(Which might be so they can leave it mysterious and have maximum, er, 'flexibility' when applying it?)

They were talking on 360 about the dogs potentially playing him at lock…
I don’t know about that one, they already have 5 or 6 that can play 13, I like young Bailey Hayward, I see his starting at 13 this week, not sure if Salmon and Mann are injured, but they have been sharing that role all year, Haywards a high energy type and that’s what they build their side around.

Just reading threw this thread and see quite a few don’t rate Galvin, I see what the Dogs see, his a high energy player and at 19 theirs plenty of upside for someone who wants to be so involved, he wants his hands on the ball at every chance he can get, so maybe a ball playing middle isn’t too far fetched, personally I don’t see it, I couldn’t see him copping the physical side of it just yet.

Mann played 13 the last couple of weeks and his not huge, his 32 v 19 though and that’s a big difference, but he left the field looking like Cam McInnes each week, can’t see Galvin copping with that week in week out. I’d play him at 6, but what to do with Burton, well his a big enough body to play 13, don’t know how he’d feel about that and his defensive work rate, actually his overall work rate would be a question mark. Anyways I guess it’s all speculation, we’ll find out soon enough, maybe he might be off to the blue and gold, where he would play 6, who knows.

Yeah I don’t see it either… mainly because I don’t see Galvin signing with another club to move away from the high-profile, big money spine position…

Guaranteed start at 6 or 7 will be written into his contract I reckon… let’s face it, the kid and his team are not afraid to kick up a stink if they do not get what they want…

personally I reckon the Tigpies signing Luai put his nose out of joint and led to him spitting the dummy… and perhaps rightfully so, it never came across as a show of confidence in the kid…

Fittler has to be there… he is the best kid I have seen… Izzy Folau would be in the conversation too…

I saw Laurie Daley from aged 7. Saw him play a major hand in winning a first grade grand final for Junee aged 16 in Group 9.

Was always destined to captain Australia but to do it aged 23 was a remarkable feat.

His cricket ability was also astounding. He might have been Australia answer to Ian Botham.

His abilities are not coached nor learned. It's "hand of god" stuff. And the nicest guy in the planet to this day.

Forgot about Loz… Debuted at 17, played for Country v City at 18 and he was 19 when he played in and won the 89 GF, what a team that green machine team was - Daley, Stuart, Meninga, Belcher, Walters, Todd, Coyne, Lazarus, Clyde… etc etc etc

Yeah Loz was a gun kid and was always a star from the off… even in a team of stars..

Clarification; Mann is in the Queensland extended team.

Yes, he was a very special player.
