Where was the good guy with a gun that's supposed to stop the bad guy with a gun ??

I can't wait for the day someone goes postal at the NRA annual conference.

So the Raleigh mass shooting on October 22nd was the 546th mass shooting so far THIS year. (A mass shooting is officially when there are four or more people die, excluding the shooter). That’s 1.8 deaths a day. It’s insane. Below is the video of the cops shooting it out with the 15 year old shooter.

Man, I wish you wouldn't post things like this when I'm sitting in my temporary home in California. Even the phrase "Manly are looking for gun players" will have me on edge.

Are, but therein lies the rub.

You say, reasonably, that the public don't need guns.

However, the birth of the American nation was taken by the "public" with guns from a tyrannical foreign sovereign.

It was for this reason, the public's ability to fight against dictatorial and oppressive rule, that the .. "right to carry arms" .. was entrenched in the US Constitution.

So, you say that was then, the olden days, things are different now ...

The people of Russia may disagree.
Didn't know that the Indian nations ever overthrow the colonists.
Where did you read this?

If guns don't kill why don't they send men to war without them?

The leading cause of death for children in the USA?
It's now guns.
As of November 25th last year they’d had 611 mass shootings (four ppl or more, not including the shooter).
‘The Texan governor has recently urged Texans to buy more guns for their protection.(the cynical political reason going around is he’s pissed off they (Texas) are No.2 on the gun homeowners list.

If only there was more six year old with guns, they could have stopped him.

How big a moron do you have to be to leave a loaded gun in easy reach of a 6 year old?
Well, they've got a lot of them in America...
It's an old article but I'd be surprised if there had been a downturn.

Yeehah!

It's the second amendment!

sigh

:(

The video of Kerr's outburst (it was suposed to be a pre-game playoff presser) is clear enough Bozo, the US Senate won't pass a law requiring background checks before people can buy a gun. Background checks won't solve the problem but they'd probably help!
Why won't they pass the law? The gun lobby in the USA (NRA) is massively powerful, in effect 'buying' candidates with their huge campaign contributions.
As for outlawing or even tightening rules around gun ownership the way Howard did here after Port Arthur - they have the right to guns in their constitution so it would be harder to change that.
The Constitution and it's amendments were never supposed to last forever, hell those who wrote it didn't intend it to be kept, they intended it to be a living breathing and evolving thing, not the static corpse of an idea made by men long dead

Noted a story this morning where a lady school teacher in the U S was recently and critically shot by a six year old . The rate of gun related incidences and fatalities from gun shots there is truly staggering , no doubt many crime related but just out of control in so many ways right across the society . Not too sure what more it will take to engender and compel some serious overhaul of gun laws there . Obviously some very influential organizations with some gun lobbies there but would have to be gradual attempts occurring to introduce some better controls . Electoral cycle probably does not help matters with knife edge majorities not uncommon in both of their federal houses there . Probably the influx of many arrivals from Central America and Mexico in recent years is not going to help matters , fairly violent societies in that part of the world unfortunately and that culture would not be too inclined to change too much integrating into an already quite violent society

The irony being that it’s called an amendment, but don’t you dare and try amending anything.

I’ve said it numerous times before Al.If the Sandy Hook massacre couldn’t get some "real" gun reform then nothing will. The NRA are just too powerful.

It's all happened before

23 years ago, another 6-year-old boy fired a gun in school. The victim was his classmate

CNN — When authorities in Newport News, Virginia, announced on January 6 that a 6-year-old boy brought a gun to school and shot his teacher, sending her to the hospital, the country was stunned. The city’s mayor said it was nearly impossible to grapple with what happened. The police chief called the case “unprecedented.”

But in one Michigan community, residents were reminded of two other first graders…

Sure that when the American founding fathers included the right to bear arms or whatever the clause was in their constitution , they would have never have intended to create a situation where firearms in general could and is causing so much harm and danger right through its society . Just noticeable that Canada , not that dissimilar [ well in the main ] with its development and way of life , just does not experience the same very serious and damaging issues with firearm and general gun use and ownership and availability . Host of reasons again why it has and did become so bad in the U S , if it can not be addressed on a national level collectively , and probably is already happening , time for individual states to enact some much needed gun reforms . Stacked supreme court now is probably not going to help much but just some sustained and public goodwill pressure again at a grassroots and individual state level could make a vital difference long term or short term .

"A well regulated militia" is never quoted, just right to bear arms.
