Gutherson keen to be Stewart's successor

Clinton Gutherson has his eye on the maroon and white No.1 jumper Brett Stewart has called his own for the past decade at Manly, but for now he is happy to be learning at the feet of his childhood hero.

The born and bred Northern Beaches product will have to be content with a green and gold variation for the time being as he lines up for his second year at fullback with the Junior Kangaroos.

Hiku would be a great exponent of exploding out from dummy half as he offers strength, quickness & a neat step, plus can offload in traffic....problem is, from the brief stints Hodges has shown in the 9, could be 3rd in the pecking order as Jayden Hodges with minimal game time in tough circumstances, looked the goods.

It was a really good story about someones love and desire to play for Manly. Someone who might stay for less than he would get offered elsewhere. So I hope he does get a bit more game time next year. So hard to fit in though unless from injuries. He is only young and does seem prepared to bide his time.

He needs to get Buhrer to give him a haircut though

The kind of player I want at Manly. A bloke that is happy to be there, willing to work hard & learn his trade off our classy veterans 🙂

Bonus that he is a local junior and grew up supporting our mighty club.

According to the RLW Mole, he'd better get up to speed as he'll be our first choice in March next year.
