Ahhh the old conga line, never really got why they disliked me so much, I was just trying to drag them all kicking and screaming into the 21st century and was sadly better at their game than they were.

I know that most of them eventually found their way here and I had no ill will towards them ever and still don’t. I may go down in manly history as an odd duck, but all I was trying to do was provide a platform for the fans to be fans, friends, family and frenemies. I never wanted to dislodge anyone or be part of the club.

I hope my contribution to the club is recognised one day if not from the fans, I have been a long and loyal clubman, just from the fringes.

Back in the day Zorba absolutely hated you ( as he had no control over what was said ).

I only know that because he told me.

I said “ they are just fans , they tell it like it is and it’s no different that what they say to mates and groups at the pub , on the hill, and remember , many of them are lad up members “.

Sadly he just didn’t get it , but his control didn’t last much longer anyway , he was never a 21st century media manager.

Ha I’ll never forget the abusive phone calls I got from some at the club accusing me hacking their site, threatening to me over something that was written that they misread and many more.

Then them having a big hissy fit over the fortress brookvale signs and taking them off egor.

So many times. I have had to wear so much **** over time for this site, the early days were the funniest because they just didn’t get it, they didn’t get that the site could have been an incredible marketing tool for them given it was not related to them.

Larissa was the first one to get that and later cuzzo, had I still been local I could have really driven that further, but it was too hard from QLD and Amsterdam.

It just seemed so strange to ostracise such clearly passionate and invested fans

I never ever understood it - especially when you look globally at fan engagement

I do agree those early days were pretty bloody funny...

They missed a huge opportunity there , that’s how I found out Zorba hated you , I actually said “ Zorba why don’t you make Silvertails the fan forum group, and then you worry about main stream media and not what’s being said on a fan forum “.

He wanted to control what was said , that’s when I made the comment about “ many are paid up members , you can’t control what’s said at the pub , on the hill, at BBQ’s so why worry ???”

I’d suggest even to this day they’d still look at what is said , and hate it that they can’t control the narrative.

Mind you , they seem to let their Facebook posts go these days so maybe times are a changing.
