Hugo Hart 2025 tries

3 grades, one season. Might be why the "smarter" people let a couple go to Canberra.
Unsure what your point is here. Munn is a prop and Dowell is a halfback, so they’re completely different positions. On top of that, Munn also played across three grades in one season and managed to win Best and Fairest in two of them. That’s exactly the kind of junior you should be rewarding, not letting go.

I agree Hart is a gun and I’m really keen to see how he develops, but praising the club for losing two quality juniors just because they’ve kept this one doesn’t make much sense. Clubs like Canberra have a whole crop of players like this coming through, whereas Manly seem to go all-in on a few and hope for the best. For the club’s sake, Walsh, Hart, Zaidas and Laiafi all need to kick on — because beyond that group, there isn’t a whole lot coming through.

Yeah good pick up. My main point is that the best clubs always have a steady stock of players in every position coming through year after year. Manly, on the other hand, have only just started to sign a handful of young guns over the past year, and we’ve had nothing announced so far this year. That’s why it’s so concerning to see the club lose two of our very best juniors, with no news of replacements coming in.

And it’s not like results suggest we’re flying either — both our Flegg and SG Ball sides finished second-last this season. I’m not denying that junior recruitment has improved compared to a few years back, but there’s still a long way to go. Putting so much time and effort into developing these blokes, only to let them leave right when they’re nearly first-grade ready, just so another club benefits, is madness in my opinion.
