I'll be one of the mad ones handing out the QLDSEAEAGLES.COM cards...if you get ibe say "are you Mark", if not say "point me in the direction of Mark"...would be good to put a face to a name and I DO like your name!!!

But don't worry I am an "old fart" so I am not going to try and pick you up!!

About the only thing I pick up these days are my grand kids!!

Don't forget your arm bands and swimming costumes everyone

If I say the password/phrase "Are you Mark?" are you going to lead me somewhere and show me or sell me something illicit? Got any nudie pictures of Stewy? Out of date vitamin C tablets? Cane toads to lick? Don't hold back big fella. Go Manly!

No secret passwords but I'll give you a "heads up"

check out www.qldseaeagles.com

And you might just see who I am!!

Niccipops - If you are a GC local and it fits with your plans, get in contact with the club on 02 9970 3000 and speak to Grace to see if there are any spare tickets for the function at the Crowne plaza on Saturday night? (See here http://www.mwse.com.au/default.aspx?s=article-display&id=15912 )

Great chance to meet the "God father" (No, not Mark - Arko) plus there will be all manner of club officials, a HUGE turnout of supporters and even (perhaps?) players past and present (Last year BK was there as was Wombat plus several others)

Lots of Manly "Lurve" in the air and a great way to get ready for the big game plus of course introduce yourself to some of the posters on here - have a look at the "next game" tab on the right of the page as to some of who will be there.

Come Game Day - the AWAY Supporters bay will be chockers with the Travelling Supportahs and a riot of noise and Maroon and White...Not sure which way the bus will take you to the ground but if you can get to the Robina Tavern (As mentioned in previous posts) then you will have a hoot - head to to the beer garden out the back (assuming it hasnt been washed away!) and ask for Mark (Or look for a young boy and girl trying to steal the vending machine or  pretending they are orphans so they can get a free hot chips from the bistro and ask them where there Dad is and they will point you in my direction) and we'll be happy to introduce you to everyone.

Don't worry if you are travelling by yourself or with a friend - many are or have done in the past but now have met people and if you are wearing Maroon and white you are "Not a stranger ....Just an Eagle fan we haven't met yet" LOL

Safe travels and hope this helps
Vidmar

And make SURE you are in the away supporters bay S14...it will be the ONLY place to be on Sunday afternoon.

Those posh seats or corporate boxes might be a nice way to watch the footy BUT all the fun will be in bay s14!!

fark it, i am in S23. Other side of the map! DAMMIT!!

Will definately catch up with you guys Robina Tavern.... check out my pick on my facebook page then add another 10kgs, then you have me!

:p

According to Google Maps:

Dog and Parrot = 3km from Skilled Stadium
Robina Tavern = 3km from Skilled Stadium

They are both the same distance but if you want friendly faces, it is probably best to stick with the Robina Tavern option.

Take it from a local, that is nigh on impossible. Plus Tavern to Skilled = good roads, Dog and Parrot = you will be wearing mud.

Suggestion Zep

If you are siting woth Titans mates maybe you'll want to stay there BUT my understanding is there's a heap of seats left in Bay S14.

Why don't you wait until just before the game starts and come on over and find a spare seat....it will be SOOOOOOOOOOOO much more fun with us Lunatics than in the other area!!!

i might do that at half time, I am actually going with my parents (sort of a tradition, we went down to Melb @ Brookie last year). So i am taking them this year. But yeah we definately be looking for your guys at the Tavern. What time are you guys going to be there?

yes  mate it's so people can get there, have some lunch, a few beers and get over to SP in time to see at least the second half of the Under 20's!!

Don't worry just take more Berocca!!

just purchased my ticket online, got in Section 14 in row 28, so im assuming that rows 28 and below have already been taken up? ... thats a good efoort then

What is "nigh on impossible"? ("nigh on impossible" for friendly faces at the Robina Tavern or "nigh on impossible" for the same distance of 3 km?). I was a local for 8 years up until the 22nd of January this year (when we moved up to Hervey Bay) so I can't understand why you would be wearing mud if you walked from the Dog and Parrot? What way would you be walking to end up with mud as there is a footpath/bikeway the whole way (unless they have been torn up for the Robina Town Centre refurbishments). If it were me walking, I'd head up Scottsdale Dr to Robina Town Centre and turn right into Robina Town Centre Drive and follow the footpath/bikeway on the right-hand side of Robina Town Centre Drive and cross over to the other side of the road at that housing estate just past the oval and keep following the footpath to Cheltenham Drive and turn left and then just head down to the stadium.

If you are walking from the Robina Tavern, just watch out when crossing the Robina Parkway.

It would be fun to meet up at the pre-game function but don't know about the possibility of making it there. The mate who's got our tickets went to the casino last night and is not yet awake at 10am. I may have to take action with a swat team attack on his house to de-comatose him.
We'll be at the match for sure but at this stage it looks like we'll miss pre-game functions.

Well, if I was still living down there, I would be there in an instant.

LOL that's like us - the mate of ours with all our tickets was heaps seedy on game day - him and his crew didnt get to the Pub until about 12:40, whilst a few of us were there before 11:30 heh.
He looked a bit wrecked when he did arrive, and his first beer didnt go down too good, heh.

But all was good, we got the free shuttle bus around 1:45 up to the stadium - would have liked to have gotten there earlier to see more of the u20's game but shrug.

Would have been hell easy to walk btw, the only downsides would have been:
1) Distractions whilst browsing all the shops and stuff when going thru that massive shopping complex,
2) If it rained heavily, and
3) Keeping a traveller or 2 (beer/bourbon can) somewhat easily hidden in case whatever authoritah doesn't like the idea of drinking in the open in that area.

Anyway, the stadium was pretty good, reasonable facilities (if only 1 kind of beer unfortunately - the 1st thing I asked the bar staff 1st up was: "Is there any other type of beers?"), and the whole place was a bit sterile.

I got my classic "All day!" call in nicely just after the 1st penalty against the Titans - stood up after a few secs and the initial cheering/raucus died down and screamed: "He's been doin' it all day ref! A-allll, Daaaa-aaayyy!"
(I can do this, as I come from Newcastle NSW).  ;)

I got into a few other nice loud manly cheers & chants, and had a few cheers across the corner of the park toward the Bay with the bulk of Manly freaks - there were a lot of Sea Eagles fans there actually, all up I reckon over 35% - kickass!

The entire day was pretty good up until 2 mins before full time when Manly were RIPPED OFF with that call that sure may have been a lineball knock-on, but should NOT have been a penalty.
