Jake T.

He will absolutely be signed and so will his brother… the club is terrified of upsetting the apple cart. If Tony had his way he would not renew them at all.

IIRC I said all of this about Jake at the start of the year and got shouted down for it.....

Unfortunately, his game plateaued 4–5 years ago and has been on a decline ever since.

He barely makes any metres in attack, he slows down the attack at lock and his once dominant tackling has been largely negated by the set restarts rule where tacklers need to get their work done quickly or get penalised.

We all know he'll be re-signed by the club and we all know he'll be the captain next year. But the reality is that at best I think he's got one more year left in the NRL, and I fear even that might be one season too many.

Some young bull, maybe a Superleague forward, plenty out there

The trick is convincing any of them to come to Manly. Not an easy job when there is constant speculation about the coach and when the clubs games record holding, long standing captain, wants out.

It doesn't paint a picture of a good club to be at right now.

Good players used to want to play for Manly. Those days are but a memory right now.

Hard markers here, but the numbers don't lie.

The only thing I'd say is the club will be lucky to attract anyone better, whether it be on $250k or $950k.

I'd say Crocker is another whose NRL career is finished.

I think in 3 years time we might all be looking back to the good old days of 2023, 2024 and 2025 when we were a fringe 8 side who on their day could go with the top sides.

Joe Gulavao was the last decent forward we picked up. Mind you Taukeiaho has been decent.

I’m with you bob - think we’ve got a few bleak years coming. Some promising youngsters, but not sure we will have the team around them to help them progress.

I think we would do well to have an Eels style rebuild rather than persist with the idea we are in a premiership window. A coach can only do this with an understanding from the board that short term results won't be great. Ryles seems to have a mandate to restructure the roster (and playing style). Manly would be better served to follow this approach (and accept a few lean years) rather than simply plugging gaps with moneyball style buys and pretending we are a genuine title threat.

Was that the post showing his declined stats year on year?

Only our owner that has said we are in a premiership window. Everyone else knows, under Penn, the window is jammed shut..... still.... since 2014.
