Hope to see his smiling face around all the same.

So happy that he got his 2nd Premiership with us :)

Missing Nood already :(

Adding my best wishes for a successful operation.

Terrible luck Joe and thanks for the inspiration attitude to life.

Hopefully still see you around Manly somehow if the travelling doesn't get you down.

Been unbelievably good for us off the bench, and he probably even went up a level last year when he joined in the prop rotation instead of the backrow. He will be missed. As much as doing it for Beaver was a huge part of 08, let hope the boys can win this for Joe. A true gentlemen.

Sad news, hope he gets the chance to retire on his own terms. Like a comeback in late September.

I hope the club keeps him around in another capacity next year if he gives it away. He, anong others, appear to be the glue of the playing group.

heard on the radio this afternoon he has said that its not all bad- i get let in first wherever i go because of the crutches & now all i have to do is find out how to get free stuff!

Haven't heard that hes officially retiring at years end?? Maybe can go around next year??? Doesnt deserve to go out like this.

Awful news - as many others have said it would be nice if he can go out on his own terms (when that time comes)

If ever there was a case of trusting the recruitment team then Joe is a case in point

I think this injury will be far too hard to come back from unfortunately, especially for the role he plays

There was already talk just after the season started that Joe would probably be finishing up as he had been offered some sort of role working with the young Polynesian kids out in the west of Sydney

Nooooo. Terrible news. I hope all goes well for Joe. May he have a sppedy recovery. I also hope he will be around next year to go for a back to back gf win ; )

Sea Eagles prop Joe Galuvao will miss the rest of the season after tearing his achilles against the Sharks at Brookvale Oval on Sunday.

Galuvao was stretchered off the field after a seemingly innocuous tackle in the second half of the Sea Eagles' 25-18 win.

Manly's head coach Geoff Toovey expressed some hope that the injury wasn't as serious as first thought but a specialist today confirmed that Galuvao will require surgery and will be sidelined for the remainder of 2013.

"As feared, I am booked in 4 surgery 2repair my ruptured Achilles so ruling me out 4the rest of the season. thnx heaps 4 the support," Galuvao Tweeted on Wednesday.

The NRL community rallied around of one of rugby league's nice guys after his announcement, with Terry Campese, Todd Carney, Dene Halatau and Matt Shirvington among those who sent him messages of support.

Galuvao has played 78 first grade games for Manly since joining the Club in 2010 and was integral in their 2011 Premiership win, his second after winning with Penrith in 2003.

The two-time Premiership winner has played with the Warriors, Panthers, Rabbitohs, Eels and Sea Eagles in a career that's spanned 240 NRL games.

He's been one of our most consistant forwards and added heaps of go-forward off the bench. He will be missed. Just devestating news for a real gentleman of the game.

All the best Joe.
