June 30 Deadline

The Knights blocked a Manly bid to land Jack Hetherington
Hetherington has been told he can leave the Knights at the end of the season but Manly were hoping to get their hands on him earlier than that as they looked to compensate for the loss of Taniela Paseska, Nathan Brown and Haumole Olakau’atu, all of whom are sidelined with injury.

However, it is understood the Knights rejected the approach as they look to keep their top-eight hopes alive.
in the tele

That's a complete load of garbage by the Telegraph, there was NO bid/approach at all.

An updated list was circulated by all clubs last week of players, the update contained players who've been informed that their services wouldn't be required beyond 2025.

A query was raised on players "available", for immediate release, sent to all clubs by 6-8 clubs, including Manly.

That's the extent of the "bid".

Fascinated to know how all that works AWDC? Does it all go through the NRL head office? Is there someone who orchestrates it all?

I've often wondered how so many cubs can get so many ducks in a row all on the same weekend.

The NRL are only involved at the time in which the contract is required to be registered or when both clubs come to agreement on the player swap/exchange.

Prior to the above, player managers and clubs attend to a majority of all discussions unless the discussions require an NRLPA/NRL clarification on the players contractual position with "X" club.

No player can be forced to engage in a release unless it is a mutual release or the club "pays out" a contract which would be ludicrous as it included in the cap adjustment/assessment at the end of the year and you may be in breach if you haven't accounted for said payments/terminations in the appropriate manner.

It's been a busy 72 hours in our office with movements and queries flying in thick and fast on contractual obligations and commitments.

Thanks AWDC. Must have been huge!

Strongly suspect we have no news coming for 30 June. What we currently got.......that’s what we've got.

Wouldn't mind being surprised with some good news, but......

U r 100% right.

Although Cartwright and Matterson have their hands up saying pick me, pick me.

Both players are what Seibold sees in a forward - 30 or over, were good 5-7 years ago but are now schiit, but he doesn't have to try and coach them.

Sign them up Seibs

Cartwright quit the Eels for St.Mary’s in the Ron Massey Cup a couple of weeks ago ,so he won’t want a downgrade in coaching

Well still a day to go - it would be nice for our media department/manager to provide some insight tomorrow on what is going on
