No issue Lsz ... they get caught ... they get punted ... surely you are not suggesting it is the sports problem, that the players are victims, that as a body we have a responsibility to provide sheltered workshops and guest stays in Thai resorts ....

My issue is the lack of positive tests despite the widespread use - it appears to be a cultural issue for the game as well

Agree, all the recent gotchas seem to have been by the police, not the drug testers ...

I think it is a wider social issue ... is it more prevalent amongst elite athletes?

On one hand they have more money and spare time and didn't need to pass an IQ test to get there ... on the other hand many have managers from the age of 15, the benefit of many "lifestyle and choices" courses at the clubs, dietricians, trainers, coaches, senior player groups etc etc.

A mate said this morning that we can't just throw them to the wolves .... hardly ... tearing up their contracts is just putting them back on a level field with the other 99% of the population that aren't paid big money to play sport ..

Like Carney had to get a job in a pub ... well bugger me, thousands of good hard working Aussies do that every bloody week for a living.

The Karmichael Hunt drug possession charge is much murkier than it seems.

His career in rugby union might not be over as many have already assumed since he was arrested in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley on December 30 after police allegedly found him in possession of a white powder.

He is set to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 29 after being charged on two counts of drug possession. He pleaded guilty to four charges of cocaine possession in early 2015.

It's understood Hunt was drunkenly wrestling with a mate on the street when police stopped and searched them, with the white powdery substance found on the pavement next to them.

While deeply disappointed in Hunt's actions, especially after the Reds and Wallabies coach Michael Cheika showed so much faith in him after he last busted with cocaine, some at Rugby Australia already believe it will difficult to tear up his contract.

RA is eagerly waiting to see a charge sheet from Queensland police so it can understand exactly what has been alleged.

Problem solved.

The worst part of all this is the fact that when he got caught last time he sang like a canary and gave everyone up to save his own arse. What a cat.

That was my biggest issue with him when he got done before. Don't get me wrong, not great to be taking these substances, but the way he rolled over on everyone......pretty ordinary.
