Ken Arthurson - The Godfather of Manly Sea Eagles

Perhaps the greatest Manly Man of all. Thanks for the heads-up on Face To Face, I will assume it's on Kayo and catch it there.

Remember meeting Ken in the eighties. He was at a court house in Sydney with Neville Wran getting into an elevator. I got into the lift with them with my nail bag on,heading back up to a floor. Didn’t say much apart from Up Manly. I was working for Arkley Fibrous Plaster who had a contract with PWD( Public Works Department).

Manly wouldn’t have the proud history it has without Arko. Good to see him fit and sharp and enjoying life. Comes across as a really genuine and decent person.
Was interesting to hear he remained friends with Ribot, many fans hate the guy but not Arko, a measure of the man.

As much as we love to connect with the tribalism and associate with all Manly stands for, it’s a game of footy. Arko has his priorities sorted after 90+ years on this planet. There is no personal joy or growth in holding onto grudges.

Shame he's not in charge today. Or his protégé Fulton. Toovey could have been the next in line but he was shown the door.
Agree. Whilst probably illogical to some extent, I can't help feeling that for Manly to be successful it has to be run/coached by a "Manly" man/team. Under Arthurson/Fulton always felt the club was strong in direction and purpose. But over recent years - with a dwindling Manly connection - particularly in the coaching ranks - I now have the uncomfortable feeling that Manly is slowly drifting into semi-permanent mediocrity.

I don’t know but I feel that Foz or DCE will find there way at some point into Manly coaching ranks
I’d like to see Penn sell 1st though
