40 nil was the dream

What an afternoon/evening that was. And to do it against the dirty, rotten,cheating darlings of NRL HQ.

This is the first year in a decade I've remotely seen a Manly side look like they are trying to win a game where defence even matters, and or temper that attack and grind a win.

Still a lot to work on and improve.

But I'll be happy if this team can limit the knights to 6 or less.

Donkeys where terrible, but seems like forever we keeped someone that low.

Keeping someone to nil now that's a dream.

It was only 2 weeks prior against the cowboys but get what you mean.

2 games before that we kept panthers to 10.
(though I've read that we didn't let either team play well so those wins don't count for much!)

Be nice to think Manly's consistency in defence is on the improve. It has sure needed to be, but yes, some positive signs of late.

Come on mate. You can do better than that, surely. Maybe you should enlist the help of Silvertails resident fishing champion @Sheikheagle , he really knows how to reel them in.

He’s been a real disappointment. Had big hopes this would be his breakout year, but if anything, he seems to have gone backwards.

Well he got married in the offseason so maybe he's protecting his body, lol

I hate that I can’t even be super confident we beat quite possibly the worst team in the comp.

We SHOULD win and win well, but every time I get comfortable going into a game against a below average side, we play the worst footy I’ve ever seen and somehow get towelled up.

Thankfully, there’s been quite a bit of mention from both coach and players about really needing to get back to our best and do it CONSISTENTLY. Last week after the game there was mention of coming out and playing just as well next week too.

If the boys have the mindset of needing to build consistency and really needing to win this game, and not that they’re just an awful side that we can walk past which is seen a lot, we could be in for a big game.

Comp is so close that a win almost has us saying hello to that top 4, whereas a loss would likely see us well outside of the 8 again.

Lots to play for, let’s pull away from this big group in the middle to bottom of the ladder 🦅🦅🦅

In all honesty, we should get the whole 6pts Knights and Titans then the bye, the step down in opposition will be nice tho, but can't discount anybody in this close comp.

We kept the Cows to 6pts two weeks ago. The way the modern game is it’s far more difficult to keep a team below 10pts a game. I reckon about 1 team a week scores less than 10pts - and they are the ones having major issues with their attack, rather than how good the opposition is defensively. This year we have held two teams to less than 10, and 6 teams to 12 or less. That’s not bad compared to other seasons.

Titans we’re lucky to get them without Grant, there not the same side without his DH work, regardless the Titans will be a tough game up there, they have a way better side than what their spot on table suggests, maybe its Des, who knows, but they should be winning more games. I don’t really care as long as they done win one against us.

I wouldn’t worry about it mate. Just another typically sarcastic but completely missing the point post in an unrelated thread well away from the actual discussion to which he is referring. This approach has the benefit of giving oneself an intellectually superior ego boost without having to engage in actual discussions. For further ego massaging, I also recommend making a “community announcement” letting everyone know that you are above the level of discussions, and will no longer be taking part.

Yes the buck stops and accountability starts with the coach!

By the way, how do rate these coaches this year? Maguire. Bennett. How about the super combination of Robinson and Holbrook. Ivan Cleary. Or Flanagan? Des Hasler?

Decorated and superior coaches no doubt, with a hard edge, and impressive at post-game interviews.

Can't believe the luck Manly has had staying ahead of the teams coached by those All-Stars! And all despite Seibold obstinately selecting a motley collection of no-hopers and plodding has-beens! 😱
