The worst part of that last try, was the amount of Manly players that where just ball watching. No urgency to try and stop anything from happening. Garrick wasn't even watching the ball, he had his head down running slowly back.

That sums up our team right there and then. They are not playing for each other, its like they didn't give a sh1t

Hard to know which game I enjoyed more? Eels or Knights? Both had their moments. Definitely a team on the up.....

It was a genuine masterclass in mediocrity
At one point in the 2nd half I swear the players looked to the sideline for instructions and got a shrug back from Siebs.
Defensive reads? More like bedtime stories, everyone fell asleep.
the NRL should think about handing out refunds and offer up trauma counseling.
We had zero cohesion, Zero intensity & Zero clue in that 2nd half.
The players sure aren't playing for the coach and his half time rants seem useless, unless of course he told them to get out there and allow them to put 26 points on us.

Something has to give.

Agreed. But no mention of the fact we were without three props: Tent, Al and TKO. Plus Turbo, Saab and Hoppa (taken off).
What was missing was Paseka and Aloiai rolling the team up the middle, these 2 injuries have really impacted Manlys go forward and while Sipley had a decent game, imagine if they had 3 players like them getting easy yards. Bullimore tries hard but he is no No 8, get the big boppers back on the field asap and fortunes will change....hopefully.

Just watched the presser - Siebold looked lost and just trotted out his "stay positive" cliches, tepid analysis and excuses. I want him to be ropeable - in the way a Bellamy or a Stuart would be if their team failed to take the chances we did in the first and squandered the lead in the second even with the HIAs. But he's a hired gun - it's not personal only business.
He only has one setting - “bland cliche with focus on positives”. He has no other gears to go to. If he tried “I’m angry and disappointed” I think he may blow a fuse.

Mate this will continue on with the current owner he has had 10 years to open his wallet for a decent coach but has failed to do so..he is quite content on just letting things roll this way and until a passionate millionaire who knows what they are doing and knows footy buys penn out which will never happen or not anytime soon then we will remain a circus and I think things are going to get worse for us
So much for Penn saying in business it’s the results that matter. Is this what he meant by results and if so this is just not acceptable by the large number of supporters.

And some should be enrolled in the follow up how not to create chaos class.
Yeah, I love how Seibolds whole focus in the offseason was this “how to deal with chaos” crap, then he spends the season finding every excuse he can for why the team can’t “deal with chaos”. If we need to find excuses it means we aren’t dealing with chaos, which means he has failed in implementing his own coach beliefs. His position is untenable.

I feel that this is one of those losses where people are letting their frustrations cloud their judgement. I’m gutted by the loss last night but understand how it happened.

Lehi’s injury meant Ben T was in the centres, but that’s only part of the problem. That meant Corey Waddell moved to an edge, straining the middle rotation. Then, Tommy T went off for 15 minutes, which pushed Garrick to the wing and meant Bullemor moved to an edge, putting further strain on the middle rotation.

As the game wore on, the strain on our middle started to show. One could argue that Newcastle lost Friz, and that’s true but they didnt win the game because their middles stood up. It’s also much easier to replace like for like; they’ve got other middles to play that same position. They barely had the ball in our 20m zone all night. We managed their yardage well for 80 minutes. They scored their tries from shifts to the edge where Ben was out of position.

Calling out a 40/20 as some sort of lack of game management is also bizarre. It’s a great tactic to kick early to avoid bringing a team’s back three onto the ball. He fell short by a metre so the opposition starting a set from 21m out, off a slow play the ball against set defence is not mismanagement.

Were we perfect? Of course not. One more ruck forward before shooting a field goal would have been better. A try before halftime was a missed opportunity. Garrick’s relatively missed easy goal to avoid the deadlock, etc. but those things happen.

I saw a lot of effort last night but the team fatigued in the second half due to the middle rotation so we couldn’t get a lot momentum with the ball and the Knights scored some good tries exposing our weakened edges. That’s how we lost, not some ‘sack Seibold’ ‘get DCE out before the deadline’ ‘sack Ben T’ narrative.
Mate, I hear what you are saying, but we are talking about the Knights here. It’s a game you just have to win, regardless of how many excuses you can find. The only consistency we have is the ability to find excuses after losses. The coach is accountable for results, not for offering up excuses.

No true Manly Supporters Endorse and Support Manly Mediocrity

Have a Winning day feathered friend @The Wheel 🙂
IMHO our attitude and club culture are to blame for these inconsistencies. DCE’s cross field kick near half time and attempted 40/20 showed disrespect to the opposition and smacked of “we’re going to beat you by 40” attitude. The coach when asked about our inconsistencies just says it’s a tough competition. Do you think a Bellamy or Stuart would ever say that or accept it. Those two get angry even winning games. And Seibolds reluctant to carry a back on the bench astounds me. How many times have we won a game when Burbo has been forced into the centres. None. As soon as Hoopa went down we were in trouble. It simply took ‘OBrien to get his team together at half time and to tell them to spread it wide and they’d score points, which they did. End of rant!

Whose fault is it we didn’t have an outside back for cover? The coaches. Why did we have to kick a 40/20? We were up by 16. We needed to show the opposition respect and grind them down, instead we went for the fancy slap on the back play. We lost due to poor attitude more than anything..

Just pure self indulgence with D C E irresponsible kicking
Game result and critical momentum shifts did essentially turn as a result and totally unfair on the guys who were really trying to put in and do what was expected of them .
Brooksy not helping with his lack of management input as well when it really mattered and a bit off defensively as well
Some players playing out of position for an extended time not helpful but with that half time lead , all that was really required was some straightforward game management to see the game out and just did not happen again .
Don "t think the bench make up mattered all that much , again just mainly attribute the lack of organization from the halves in particular putting the side under so much unnecessary pressure when the game started to not go Manly "s way
The Knights did lift and played with more purpose in the 2 nd half and moved the Manly defence around but again , Manly just seemed to again lack the leadership and game awareness to adjust as has been not that uncommon for a while now
A couple of handy players to return but [ and maybe asking too much ] really has to be on the halves to set the right tone on a regular basis
No real favorable expectations going forward on that sadly

Yeah and we are Manly, not Melbourne. They aren’t that far behind us that a few injuries can’t bridge the divide.

It feels like people are shocked that we aren’t suddenly kicking ahead with consistency. It’s not gonna happen with this roster. We tried last night but we aren’t this great side that beats ourselves every second week. We don’t have the cattle. We don’t suddenly expect the Knights, Tigers, Titans, Dolphins, and co. To suddenly kick up the ladder. Why are we expecting it to happen for Manly? This is where we are at. It sucks but it’s the reality of our club’s position in the NRL.
