Who are Dalton and Tillot? Cuthbo and wells on the bench? Surely this is a joke?

Monas should never have been re-signed.

Look at the problems he is causing already. We bought talent with a view that he wouldnt be here this year and now it looks like we have to shuffle around just to fit him in because of the money he is on!

Well, the club didn't want him either........

Our benefactor did.

Canberra side confirmed, with one to drop off the bench I guess. If we can't beat this lot than it's going to be a long season. Who will Matai mark in the centres ? Phil Graham has a bit of toe so can't afford to let him get outside and jumper grab him.

I see they also have a half on the bench in Carney, so probably similar rotation to us, with Withers to hooker/dummy half if Woolford has a rest.

If Beaver smashes Smith out of the game again, then we should be all over these blokes.

Honestly if Manly cannot beat this team by at least 20 points then it is going to be a long year.

Adrian Purtell, Willie Raston, Ben Jones are hardly well now names and Croker and Smith are surely well past their use by dates by now. It will be interesting to see how Zillman and Learoyd-lars go as they have had big warps put on them in recent times.

zillman is very good by all reports.i think he will get a fair bit of game time if he makes the final 17.

Wow - he shares my unusual surname. Don't know him though. I hope he goes alright (but not too well!)

Hmm.. Monas and Orford.. im pleased. Gives us options on the last tackle now.. Last year seeing Beaver kick from the 40 on the last was embarassing when monas was tackled.

Monas long kicking game is really good so its good to have two good long kickers in the side. I think Monas is crucial in the halves... as Orford and Burns both cant defend.. We cant afford that many holes in an already poor defensive side.

This sort of talk really worries me. Canberra have an impeccable pedigree in recent years when it comes to knocking off HOT favourites, especially away from home.

I think we are at great risk of under-estimating this side, regardless of what rhetoric comes from the camp.

If we run out complacent in the slightest way on Saturday night it is going to be a loss.

How we perfom against the raiders will let us know where this team really stands and if Des has picked to right team.

Anything less than a dominant win by Manly is unacceptable even though Des states that we won't see the best from the team until round 6.

It will be interesting to see how monnas and King go in the first game of the year.

that was the most disgraceful day in Manly history.after woodford got sent off for smashing willo he was by chance sitting next to me and my mates in the stands with John Harvey(YES,the same turncoat manly prop of 80s fame) laughing at us.it was a total embarrassment i will never forget.

the point is a good one from mata.if you don't turn up in the NRL IN 06 you will lose, doesnt matter who you play.it must be remembered we are also playing under lights and not on a beautiful brookie sunday arvo.

having said all that i am sure hasler will send the lads out with the right attitude.it is the fans who will be cocky-and that is only natural with all keen supporters after a long eagle-less offseason.

manly by 12.

like a few people i dont rate or have much time for our number 6, however on saturday i expect him to have a big one as he usually does against his old club.

Does anyone wanna take a stab at how many times he will kick the ball dead

Im saying atleast twice

only twice?

I do remember Messiah doing it many times RD3 against Manly last year though.
