A former high-flying entrepreneur, who allegedly supplied cocaine and prostitutes to Manly rugby league players, has been sentenced to a maximum of 10 years' jail for supplying commercial quantities of cocaine.
Robert "Robby"Melhem, 46, rolled his eyes and said "f--- me," as District Court Judge Antony Townsend handed down his sentence on Friday.

Robby Melhem has been jailed for selling drugs in an undercover sting.
Melhem, once a sponsor of the Manly Sea Eagles through his now-failed mobile phone company, was arrested on August 17, 2017, after selling cocaine to an undercover police officer.
Ten days before his arrest Melhem sent the officer a text on an encrypted BlackBerry: "Mate I just got 22 loose vacuum sealed Pure mother pearl kegs. (Cooks 97%) u can have for $185,000. Can give u tonight and pay me next week."

Over the next few days Melhem supplied the officer with five kilograms of pseudoephedrine, a precursor chemical used to make ice, and more than two kilos of cocaine, which were in brick shaped packages wrapped in plastic with a ‘Red Bull’ symbol stamped on them.

He was arranging to supply another 10 kilos of pseudoephedrine and more cocaine when he was arrested at Bicentennial Park, Homebush. Police also seized 22kg of cocaine, bearing the same Red Bull insignia, from an apartment in Pyrmont.
Melhem's fall from grace has been dramatic. He was once a sponsor of Manly and at one stage, a prospective buyer. Sources have told the Heraldthat during his sponsorship of the NRL club, which finished several years ago, Melhem was supplying cocaine and prostitutes to some players as well as making cash payments to some in breach of salary cap regulations.
Melhem was such a popular figure at the club that it was at his harbourside mansion with its tennis court and swimming pool that the family, teammates and supporters of Brett Stewart gathered in September 2010 to celebrate the Manly star's acquittal of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

Escort agency "7th Heaven Escorts" listed its business address at Melhem's five-bedroom Kirribilli home, which he sold in March 2014 for $6.7 million.
In retirement former Manly captain Ben Kennedy and Melhem went into a property development venture on the outskirts of Cairns and, in more recent years, Melhem was offering to help Anthony Watmough with business opportunities.
It is not suggested that Stewart, Watmough or Kennedy were involved in any wrongdoing in connection with Melhem.
Melhem also had a number of colourful business partners including brothel owners, bikie gang members and convicted cocaine dealer Joe Frangieh, with whom Melhem was involved in a Queensland property company.

Frangieh’s father was murdered in a drive-by shooting in 2003. However, police said at the time the targets were his drug-dealing sons Raymond and Joe.
At the time of Melhem's arrest, two of his closest family friends offered to put up bail for him. One was Frangieh’s sister Sonia and the other was Frangieh’s wife, Sharon.

I thought that useless hack had retired. She must have slept with a manly player back in the old days who told her he loved her and then ignored her and left money on the bedside table for a taxi. How she hasn’t been sued by our club is beyond me. mind you the telegraph are no better. I mean was that caption really necessary it actually mentioned more about manly and rugby league than it did about who was in the photo

Sticks her disclaimer sentence near the end, after all her biased shiit talking. We‘re sponsored by lawyers now. Go after the hag with a libel suit.

Don't you just love hack journos after a story and manipulating it to sell. Obviously needed a product to sell to save her job. Damaging peoples' lives through innuendo doesn't enter the mind of such amoral narcissists. I've known many who have ended up with serious criminal records. Doesn't mean I've had any such involvement in their illicit activities. Association doesn't mean you're part of that persons illicit activities. But she's obviously too naïve to realise that. I wonder how many people with a criminal past she knows?

Just goes to show how low the quality of reporting has degenerated where unproven implications and besmirching of others because they know someone else, has fallen and why such journalism is dying. Fake news at its worst. The woman should hold her head in shame, especially by implicating Brett Stewart, who has been through so much false and damaging journalism in the past. Utter disgrace.

The fact Stewart, Kennedy, Watmough & Sea Eagles have even been mentioned makes her wide open for a defamation suit! I hope they clean the old wrinkled piece of $hit up in the courts & whilst they're at it the SMH also!

Welcome back to being feared guys!

It's starting to feel like it did all the other times we dominated. Bring it on you hacks, it feels good.

Trash journalism attacks and petty targeting are our comfort zone.

Even for the level of rubbish the 'journos' put out there, this was pretty bad.

Used to things like roy 'master of none' having digs about not travelling but this article was basically........

Manly manly manly drugs! Hookers! Salary cap breaches! cash cash cash! Manly drugs Manly.....and btw, all that is allegedly and some guy not associated with Manly got sent to gaol.

It was quite bad, but nothing will come of it. It's a shame though because as the media recently complained about how bad it is for the government to force them to reveal sources, etc (which is true) they don't want to take responsibility for printing click bait driven lies and drivel.

Allegedly, due to sources, Kate is a possible maybe drug addict and gigolo user, allegedly, and we're not saying she's done anything wrong. She does know a lot of criminals and drug dealers and sources say that she has partaken in many dubious activities, but that's allegedly and we're not saying she did anything like that.

She's a **** journo though, and that's true.

Kate is great, but there is a lot of old news there, that a few manly players were close to undesirable people 14 years ago. The manly player connection significantly pre-dates the crime he is being gaoled for.
In a previous article it said he supplied phones to a few players, so he was not really a major sponsor.

a good warning to players though not to associate with dodgy hangers on.

I love Kate’s work in the Obeids, rivkin, mcdonald, woods etc.

It is risky business for players flirting at the edges of the underworld.

Does anyone know why she hates Manly so much, she seems to stick the boot in at every opportunity, just wonder what her beef is
