New cricket laws ban shining balls with saliva and emphasise Mankads as 'legitimate' dismissals

Cricket officials make clear that so-called "Mankads" are legitimate dismissals in a new edition of the laws of cricket. The MCC also confirms a permanent ban on using saliva to shine the ball, and say a new batter is on strike even if players cross during a catch.

Many a fight would erupt in our daily street cricket games as kids when the bowler would attempt this form of play. For me, it all depended on wether I was the Mankador, or wether I was the victim of Mankading.
Not sure why we have to wait until October for these new rules to come into force. Especially the saliva on the ball. The MCC said it was a Covid/health issue. So why wait?
