New signings to be announced #nextweek

Pearce the target, Elgey the backup

They missed out on Matt Moylan, and may do the same with Mitchell Pearce.

Now Manly have set their sights on a new playmaker for next season to partner Daly Cherry-Evans - boom Titans youngster Kane Elgey.

With Ash Taylor signing a long-term deal on the Gold Coast and new coach Garth Brennan looking to play veteran Jarryd Hayne at five-eighth, Elgey shapes as the odd man out.

The youngster is assessing his options - and Manly shape as the perfect fit.

The Sea Eagles are happy to release veteran Blake Green to the Warriors - giving them room in the salary cap to pick up a new playmaker.

Don’t be surprised if they begin formal talks with Elgey soon.

Pearce to manly would be about 800k.
Elgey to manly would be about 300k.
The Elgey signing would put us back in the market for a marquee signing as well. This is the only reason I can see it going down this avenue.

We signed Marty on the 30.10.2015

Today is the 30.10.2017

There's a big name coming. I can feel it.

I gave you a like but it’s close to an optimistic I feel!

Well we’ve been chasing Moylan, Thompson, Pearce and now Elgey and the club have not come out and debunked the rumours. We’ve also just signed a new CEO. I can’t see how it is that you think us signing a player or two is such pie in the sky stuff.

No not “ Pie in the Sky” stuff at all, I just think there’s been so much bull****, so much rumour and little anything actually happening that it’s just very optimistic.

For example, Pearce to Manly.

I doubt young Mitchell has even decided to leave OR better still even been given permission to do so.

His coach wants him to stay and there’s probably no doubt Uncle Nick can find another million dollar TPA to keep him there.

And , Moylan to Manly.

An even bigger stretch of the imagination considering his $250k transfer fee.

Thompson to Manly.

IMO the only one that “ possibly” had legs but due to all the other bull**** this has gone somewhat cold.

So yes I’m pessimistic about anything happening but agree something might.

I see where you’re coming from. But the fact we are talking to the players we are means we are looking to sign players. So even if we miss out on our first choices, I can assume we will still be looking to sign players.
