New signings to be announced #nextweek

If the swap Brown for Thompson everyone on Silvertails will be beside themselves BUT who then plays utility in 2018?

Hastings, Fainu (at a stretch), Cullen. Maybe Barrett goes the Bellamy manner, and puts a back on the bench like Matty Wright (hope not). We have such strong depth in the utility position. Maybe even blood Tom Wright there slowly?

I would say Winterstein will be back up. About time we get some actual depth like most other clubs.

Tough call - Winterstein has been better than good for us, plus continues to improve as his work rate increases.

It is but we I would rather Siro and Thompson playing the 80. Frank has improved and runs great lines but we need more from our back rowers. We really missed some attacking sting on the left edge with a dangerous ball running option. He will be needed regardless throughout the year. For mine Thomo and Siro offer way more and Frank will serve as back up or off the bench.

But not many can fill in at Forward or Back.

It’s what makes Lewie a bit unique.

Doesn’t excel anywhere BUT can fill in pretty much anywhere.

Still don't get it. Don't we have 3, 80 minute backrowers, PLUS a few solid benchies as well?
All of our second rowers don't make enough metres. Siro is brilliant for the side, defends well, good ball handling and offloads and is capable of some sharp line running. Winterstein is reliable, although quiet, so will likely be pushed to the bench as siro can't play the 80 effectively. Plus thompson is a very good player. Most, if not all sides would make room for him in the starting backrow regardless.

We needed one workhorse second rower who makes over 100 metres consistently, defends valiantly and who has great mental toughness to rub onto our developing side. Joel Thompson is that second rower

I love winterstein, and feel him off the bench would allow for his game to be simplified enough. He will come on and just play 20 or so minutes where he runs as hard, and as fast, as he can. This will only see him improve his game. He will get game time throughout the season off the bench, although it's almost certain he'd come on into the starting 13 for injury cover throughout the season as well, he won't just be pushed off to the side to accomodate Thompson i don't think

We need that special one out of the box mate.
Agreed. With all due respect to Winterstein, he isn't in the same class as Thompson. Frank could be good off the bench and certainly a decent back-up option.

I think the Souths backrower could be a real find if he keeps injury free and I suspect he will make his way into the side at some point.

I also see Hopoate (assuming good behaviour) being a utility option.

We had a real lack of depth in the backrow - that is no longer an issue.

I also think Perrett has a real battle on his hands for a bench spot with Sipley and possibly Tanginoa both hungry for a spot.

We could end up being a much stronger side next year and that's excluding a possible 'surprise' signing.

Thompson to sign soon
I thinking other will be tagatese, however seem English powerhouse Alex walmsley looking at nrl move dragons, knights chasing maybe we are too.

If the club think winterstein can handle front and second row and Thompson comes with it might work. A hard nut front rower is what's lacking. Lawrence won't be there and Lussick could lift his game to late 2016 level. But no experience. Graham for two years would have had me excited. But Klemmer could do the job now. Wishful thinking
