Speaking of next man up (coz I have no idea where else to post this question) but is anyone else a bit over the high jump, pile on of players when they score a try?? It just seems to be getting a bit out of hand. You might remember Guac going for a massive tumble during the game in 21 and on Friday I saw another one of our blokes go crashing to the ground after leaping over everyone. I just think it won't be long before the next man up ...... and over, might not get up coz he's broken something. I'm all for celebrating tries but does anyone else think they need to tone it down a tad before someone gets hurt?

I was thinking about that the other day. I remember when Willie Mason did that to one of our guys and chipped/broke something in his back. Leary or one of those players we got from the qrl. @Mark from Brisbane would know (it wasn't parcell...the other one).

Anyway - some players don't mind, others nope. You won't see a pile on like that when Tom scores.

I more wince at it - (as I never scored a try in the nrl so I dunno how I'd react).

It's seems like a very 'Penrith' behaviour.
((Or maybe it just seems like that because they've been scoring most tries over the last few years?)

Don't get me wrong I like what we saw from GKT but I still would like to see a few more games against men (not boys) from him before we sign off on his position in the 1st team...

I think fifita would be great in short and sharp minutes from the bench but again that was based off 1 game... interested to see how he goes in roosters trial to see if he can back it up
We will get a look this weekend against the roosters , A good test for him

Interesting there is no other genuine hooker option this wknd that I can tell.. maybe he is a genuine shot for a bench spot round 1
I doubt Seibold and flanagan would play him against that experienced Chook side if they didn't think he was up to it.
However I still think Weekes the likely 14 for Round 1. Gordie to debut later in the year.

Based on the trial selections , I’m thinking Gordie three names might be the surprise packet of 2023.

I would like to see us use the east method of how they managed walker , year one he was getting a lot of big units running at him , coach rotated him out for rest at Norths , then back, shoe mentioned that 1 st year playing 2nd row took it out of him , he should of been rotated , once or twice , anyway injury permitting ,rotation , used well can also freshen up over worked stars … previously our back up players only purpose was to fill out the team photo…including Number 17 , the 3 minutes per game specialist. Spread the load , develop the wider squad , carefully, Without weekly mass changes, we have depth to use and develop

Very good point. It's very hard for first year players to play the full season and hold their form, so often young guns will be introduced towards the end of the season so they only have a month or two to go.
But regular rotations is also a good idea, especially for bench forwards. For the backline, continuity is probably more important.
