No end in sight

Would have been difficult to have A F B , Hamole and Jake in the same roster .
Best part of nearly 3 mil in cap level there on current valuations

Not necessarily based on performance level overall but the present reality
From recollection , Manly released A F B on compassionate grounds even though he still had one additional season on his contract .
No doubt the almost one mil offer from the Warriors as opposed to the purported 800 K he was then on at Manly was a factor
Actually though that he was relatively well contained on the weekend , particularly taking into account the amount of field dominance and possession the Sharks had for extended periods .
Certainly did not help with Weekes 's start as the 6 against the Panthers a few season 's ago and a very inept Manly i st half performance in that game
Then he was on the bench for a while coming on as a 9 and general utility role
A few games starting at full back but quite subdued , then released at the start of last season with a bit more to go on his contract but rated the 4 th best option at full back at that stage so more then understandable for a mutual agreement to transfer out

Your pretty spot on Al - the balance at Manly is "Not there" salay cap wise.
Team like Sharks have a far more mobile pack, plus a nimble dummy half.
The plan....
Pay "BIG" for AFB
Most the other forwards at Sharks sit around the $500,000 - $600,000 salary and this includes Nikora and McGuiness.
It's very obvious where we fall short and hard to understand how we have gone YEARS without fixing it, or trying to fix it.......
Dummy half should have been a priority since the Api/Fainu saga and fresh faster forwards to accomodate the modern game is 100% a Must .....yet the recruitment is about older "experienced" players who may know the shortcuts, but still struggle to keep up with the breakneck fast footy we see today.

We always seem to have a latu fain u or a joey walshon decent coin, taking up spots in the 30

Correct me if im wrong but this is an atea where richer clubs gain a big advantage. I understand there are some restrictions on cap in lower grades but carrying these players and at least a chunk of there salary in a different squad would be helpful

And depth

Good summary but think that Simpkin has good potential if the pack can get on the front foot on a more regular basis .
Has got some deceptive acceleration and does quite well defensively and with his work ethic
Expectation that Bully is going to stay on is getting a bit tedious and really hope that some confirmation is fairly close ,
Really need him as part of the forward mix going forward .
Actually came across a previous Shire lad at one of my local pubs a couple of months ago who is now a local and went to school with Adam Ritson .
Tried to bring up your Silvertails mugshot once on his I phone to see if any familiarity but no success .
No big deal but can be a quite small world sometimes

Im still good mates with Ritto, stayed with him after he was forced an early retirement and he is healthy again these days and enjoys some work at the racing tracks....the biggest bookie at Randwick
He went to the same school as Adam McDougall, both at Cronulla De La Salle....many good juniors came from this school....I was at Woolooware high which is opposite Shark Park.

We had Latu for 3yrs on 300k a year...900k !!, maybe it's cheaper to poach up and coming jnrs in their final year of development from other clubs...just sayin'..

$3.3m spent on DCE, Jake and Tom.

Only when those contracts roll off are we a chance of competing for a premiership.
Agreed, but it also comes down to recruitment and by Manly's track record or recruiting "has beens" or "Tigers" rejects leaves me with little hope for the future. When was the last time Manly recruited from "premiership" teams or the top teams?

I hear you, but we also haven't had the money to go after a "big fish". So its up in the air as to whether they can execute when the money does free up.

Let's hope so, because getting that wrong again will have us in the same situation we find ourselves now.

It’s going to end ugly!
I feel we have over paid for the Turbos, specially games played by Tom and Jake for my way of thinking is only $600k player at best even at his peak.
Another problem is Seinold can’t attract players without paying overs and a younger player damaging their caree.
Only solution is start promoting youth, new coach and part ways with the Turbos and they can take their brother in-law Waddell & Garrick with them.
Build the side around Hoppa, Koala, Oli and couple other up coming players with guts, passion and want to spill blood for the jumper!!

We paid overs for Jake, but at the time Jake and Tom were a package deal. It was all about getting Tom. At the time Bulldogs offered a reported 1.5m each, and we had to respond fairly quickly, don't think they were ever going to leave Manly anyway. But the years have now past and Jake should only be on half of his contract money. Tom was a beast in 2021 and 22,23,24 and so far 25 have all been injury plagued.
