Non-Manly Games [Round 10, 2017]

to think some posters thought we were going to be fighting for the spoon.

Watching these 2 teams and with the Knaughts below then i think these posters need some professional help

Was Morgan good tonight or did he just come up against a team who are crap in defence? I dare say if Thurston was fit and playing the Cows would have scored a fair few more points, and not just because he is a more accurate goal kicker.

Still, if it means that Morgan plays Origin and we get to keep DCE at Manly, I'm not complaining.

A few observations about tonight:
  • The Dogs defence is crap at best and made Morgan look better than he is
  • As a halfback, Mbye would make a much better hooker
  • Lichaa as a hooker makes Api look like Cameron Smith
  • Without Reynolds, the Dogs have no attack. They only started scoring when NQ switched off with 20 to go.
I've said this before but I am just stunned at the team Des has built over there. If you ask me the Dogs were very lucky to beat the Broncos, the Knights got robbed and the Raiders played their worst game of the year against them.

They were also awful against the Warriors in round 3 but somehow won. They should be very happy they are actually on 10 points.

The best way I can describe it is Des has built a bottom four team in his five years but he is such a good coach that they tend to scrape into the eight every year and probably will this year because he somehow motivates them well. However they are utter rubbish and the style of play is terrible to watch.

I guess they will be much better next year with Foran and Woods.

While I reckon Moses is a jub, watching this game sees Brooks as a trier.
He may not be the best half in the game but alongside the over priced, egotistical show ponies he plays with he never gives up.

Yep, the dismal Dogs last night and now these 2 **** teams tonight 🙄

Hope tomorrow's more entertaining...and in Manly's case thrilling
There have been some very ordinary games of footy of late - poor play, error ridden, predictable and quite boring. Not Manly games though I hasten to add!

Sharks win following a missed knock on by Graham :tmi:

Refs were third rate at best :swear:
They managed to see a
Agree the refs have fulfilled their obligation to make a game of it
You're a true cynic my friend ... and I hasten to add completely right!! I am sick to death of referee engineered games. One partial cure ... the penalty kick for touch ought to be abandoned. It has become a "free ride" down the field with the modern ball and bigger players. This distorts results by empowering incompetent or biased refereeing more than just about any single other factor you can name. Just give a team six more tackles as in touch footy and play on!

Reynolds is the heart and soul of that team - that much is clear. I can't believe he was virtually unwanted.
He has been a problem child.
But some players you keep for the fabric of the team and club.
I agree he's one of them.

I wonder what footy loving genius came up with tigers v Souffs as the prime time game.
Switched on individual they must be.

2 **** teams, playing ****, in front of a **** crowd. Entertainment plus

Its all about the ratings for Nein. Certain Sydney teams (Souffs, Dogs, Tigpies, St Merge, doesn't-matta) mean TV ratings just like the Donkeys do in SE Qld. That's why we see Thursday and Friday Night Donkeys while Sunday games are usually ones that involve those mentioned Sydney teams.

Yes I with you on that, but I would have thought sharks v dragqueens would have rated better considering ladder position and the fact that Souffs are only popular with themselves and the tigers are sh*t.
The ratings will be interesting.

I've often thought the same thing and have drafted a few thoughts on it, but you said it well.

In the old days a penalty resulted in kicking a heavy leather ball a few meters up-field and with the defence back 5 metres it was game on again.

Now days after the kickers takes a further 3-5 meters run up, the synthetic ball sails 30-50 metres up-field and with the defence back 10 metres an attacking set is usually a minimum of 30 metres.

These days a penalty is regularly a minimum 60 meter gain.

It's too much.

With widdop and dugan out I thought the sharks would win easily, and then when aiken (sp) left the field I thought the scoreline would be comfortable.

But I'm not sure who told the Sharks to make so many errors!!!

Also, the sharks second try (off a forward pass) - the touchie seemed to stop moving when the try was scored. Doesn't that mean he thinks it was forward? Or am I back in the Rabs years.

Then when the try was scored...he kinda started moving again. It was like he knew the pass was forward but just thought to ignore it. Then fifita throws it forward after his big run from the kickoff which kind of got evened out when he was stripped but it was called a knock on.

Scrappy game from the players and refs (again.)
