NRL Footy Show Axed

CHANNEL Nine has dumped its ailing program, The Footy Show, after another year of disastrous ratings.

The network had hoped to reinvent the iconic Thursday show when presenter Erin Molan took over this year from Paul “Fatty” Vautin, who hosted the show for the previous 24 years.

The Footy Show first went to air in 1994 and won the Logie award for most popular sports programme 11 times.

The footy show was from a simpler time when you could take the piss out of anything without being accused of being offensive, racist, redneck, whatever. There is no way mahatma coat would get a look in these days, because of some pathetic whinging sook crying about how racist it is to Indians, who truth be known, wouldn't give a ****. We all think we are much more progressive and enlightened these days, because that's what the intolerant left have brainwashed everyone to believe, but the reality is today's society is a giant step backwards from how we lived our lives in the 1990s and before.

Couldn't agree more. I've found one exception though, the ABCs show Black Comedy. I don't know if it is because it's the indigenous taking the piss or what, but it's a great show (probably get canned now I've mentioned it). How it got through the pompous lot at the ABC I don't know.

The simple reason it got axed is because the hosts have zero charisma and it is not funny. Complete amateur hour.

The Matty Johns show does a similar thing at the same timeslot 100% better.

Have you watched the NRL Footy show since the 1990s?

It is honestly terrible, and has nothing to do with political correctness.

For a start it is hosted by humourless Beau Ryan and Erin Molan. Vautin was there until last year and he was hardly better.

The Matty Johns Show is everything the Footy Show should have been, and is far from sanitised PC.

I appreciate you are only (half) joking, but there is plenty of truth in what you say. Why do women feel this need to encroach into male environs? Do they not have their own interests? You can have all the female shows you want, don't care. But why can't blokes have their own blokey places to just be blokes?

Am I surprised?

No. Ch.9 were warned by the fans that the show wouldn't work. People were all over social media saying that the Thursday Footy Show would fail with Molan as host. Fatty and the show itself may have gotten a bit stale over time, but most knew that Molan and the new format which seemed to be aimed at getting more women viewers, simply would not work.
