Our middles stink in nsw cup 2. 2 tries to the magpies right through the middle.
He was decent as was Patolo. Navale was definitely the best in the middle & deserves to be in 1st grade. Doesn’t make the most post contact metres but he gets to the defensive line quick & has late foot work that makes up for it. Made a few half breaks from late offloads when the defenders aren’t set.
Walsh has been an unreal pick up, what a talent & pleasure to watch. 1 of our best every week & set up both the tries today. The way he plays reminds me so much of Munster (obviously not saying he is as good). Eyes up footy & doesn’t seem to have any fear in attack or defence. Could definitely see him starting his career as a 5/8 if Brooks is moved on early.
Hart missed a bad tackle in the 1st half that led to a try but was solid for majority while filling in a lot at centre. Made a great catch of a short kick off then made a 30 metre run from it. Great athlete & looks like a future 1st grader.
Chee Kam was horrible. Threw away the ball on the attack 2-3 times in the 1st half with terrible offloads. Arthur also wasn’t much better. Hopefully we don’t see either of them in 1st grade again this year. If Chee Kam didn’t blow those early chances I think manly was a real chance at winning
GCKT 1 of our best & Kioa + Sykes also had pretty good games.

Some interesting observations there .
If Walsh looks to be coming on really well in coming weeks , maybe every reason to give him a crack in i st grade latter this season if the circumstances warrant .
Could even be a case to say move Brooks to a 14 role next season as a back up to possibly Simpkin and allow Walsh to play in the halves if that necessary improvement can actually occur
Looks like Navale will have to come into the game day squad just based on the enthusiasm factor .
Would like to see Patolo given an opportunity if his form is up to par soon . Think that Lodge and even Sykes have already had enough opportunities previously
Looks like Faulalo did not play either
Walsh is still very raw but the ability is certainly there, if he keeps this up it would be hard not to give him a chance if we mathematically can’t make finals later in the season.
Faulalo did play but I think he was off the field for part of the game. He was solid when on but not a stand out like usual in NSW Cup

I think he got put on report a couple times so he might be suspended anyway 🤦♂️ It was just a typical Lodge performance of a few good runs, a couple soft runs, a knock on & penalties conceded. Certainly wasn’t knocking down the door for selection
From my observations of Chee Kam this season is that he is disinterested, and therefore not putting in. At age 33 why on earth was he signed?
Sykes has now been around for a couple of seasons and is wholehearted type of player. Deserves a chance in the top side.
Dont think Sykes has ever been given a chance in the NRL side.

Thought that he really had a bit going for him earlier on . Good work ethic , solid built and reasonably mobile but just that next level of intensity maybe an issue

Not many highlights for manly but the 2nd try was class. Great ball from Walsh & a great line from Navale. First try was a Walsh grubber kick
Surely this also applies to today's game at 5:30 when a bunch of supposed "first graders" are playing. Will be interesting to see if anyone/who steps up.

Croker, Waddell, and Toff didn't really add much. Saab was okay, had a few mistakes, a couple of line breaks, and 2 tries. Still, I don't see him playing over Garrick or Talau. It was frustrating to see Saab drop his head and walk back into defense every time he made a mistake.
Walsh was a standout, couldn't have tried harder or done more. He was the only bright spot in the game.
