State govt give out the following $$ for upgrade of facilities

Rabbits 8.7 mill

Knights 10 mill

Sharks 8 mill

Roosters 5.8 mill

Dogs 2 mill



At least 2 of these clubs, this is their 2nd govt grant.

Manly has has funding commitments and reservations from Federal and State govt- how much has actually been approved and given to Manly?

Not saying that Gorman won’t get a solid submission in but with all the promises over the yrs can’t help but ‘eye roll’ whilst other clubs probably have a submission on the back of a napkin approved.

Incorporate the prospective Matai moolah (CofE) into the JT Stand upgrades that remain outstanding (back of stand - dressing rooms, training facilities, media room upgrades etc) and free up the federal money for other outstanding tasks.

It’s not that hard, think of it like renovating a house. You just need a funding strategy and determination.

Granted I am not the smartest man going around, but what exactly is a centre of excellence ? Is it a grandstand on the Eastern side of Brookvale, with undercover seating and extra food and beverage outlets? Or is it something out at Narrabeen where talented kiddies can beef up and become as big as a house ?

HPI designs Manly Sea Eagles $20 million centre of excellence

Health Project International are proud to have been involved in the design of National Rugby League (NRL) club the Manly Sea Eagles$20 million centre of excellence. The building design inspired by the shape of a Sea Eagle represents a major update to the club’s existing facilities and is part of a bold plan to transform it’s Narrabeen home on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

The plans including HPI’s architectural designs were submitted by the Manly Sea Eagles late March 2017 in the hope of securing $10 million of the $40 million of state government grants available for sporting infrastructure projects. The Sea Eagles are hopeful of securing the funding and moving into the new premises for the start of the 2019 season. The project has been the major focus of senior executives including Manly CEO Tim Cleary since beginning his tenure at the start of the year.

The centre of excellence will be a one-stop shop for the players, with an indoor training hall leading directly onto the established sporting ovals to avoid them being bused to multiple locations. Much of the two-storey, 4250 square metre facility will be available for public use. There will be medical, educational and childcare components under the plans designed by architect Health Projects International and project manager Artazan Property Group.
