Old Boys treated to a debacle

Manly's 2008 grand-final winning side was again MIA when the club held its old boys' day on Sunday.

My Brookvale Oval spies tell me Beaver and Matty Ballin were there but that was about it.

A heap of players from previous eras also stayed away, perhaps in protest about the way things are going at the club.

Those former players who did attend the reunion were 'rewarded' with one of the worst performances ever seen at Brookvale.

Several could be seen departing well before fulltime.

ABC radio reported exact same thing about the lack of attendees prior to the game 8 was the figure they used. One of the Manly boys told them that most were fed up with club.

Been to a couple of Newcastle old boys days with a mate from there , one in a spoon year. There were dozens of ex players there. Something ain’t right.

Had a beer with an absolute club legend from the halcyon days of the mid 90s the night before yesterdays game. Let’s just say that he did nothing to dispel the above with Bozo being a big part of the conversation.

I have been reliably informed (on this very forum in fact) that Bozo is never the problem. The problem always lies with others.

The number of ex-players was well done on previous events. I think it might have something to do with the Penns isolating the Football club and alienating so many ex-players and our fans deserted in droves with 25 minutes left, a very sad day that really should have been a celebration!!
