Other Games - Round 24, 2018

Garden varsity shepherd against Broncos. Then Mitchell goes to bin instead. The irony is if Brisbane score it gets disallowed. These refs just never gets any better.

The NSW and the NRL need to take a look at tonight's matches at side-by-side Sydney venues. The SCG was full, showing the popularity of Aussie Rules. Next door the Football Stadium was 3/4 empty for a match between two of the leading teams in the NRL.
Memo NRL. Your sport is getting slaughtered by Aussie Rules.
Memo NSW Government: Why spend $700-m building a bigger stadium on the same site when it will only mean more empty seats?

Spot on but they won’t. Delusional and think they are on the level of world soccer. The AFL guys just get it right. And they are about to hit a record 8 million attendance for the year. The NRL will probably get about 2.5 million for the year with an extra round than the AFL. Dimwitted dickheads!

Two friends of mine decided to take their families to the AFL match last night (separate groups, they don’t know each other) - first live Swans game for both. One’s a Sharks fan, so in fairness probably had bugger all interest in the NRL game, but the other is a Brisbane fan who only moved to Sydney a couple of weeks ago. Surely that should be a worry for the NRL, that he chose to take the kids to the SCG instead of watching his own team playing next door?

I tell you what... I wish Manly was as professionally run from top to bottom, on and off the field as that mighty club.

If only the NRL were run with half the professionalism of the AFL! That’d be a good start, too.

Poos & wees isn’t a judgement on the quality of Hawthorn, by the way (or any other club, in any sport, that wears those colours). It’s just gotta be the worst colour combo out there!

Hypothetical on the Napa hit.

You get confronted by someone on the street and in the process of either trying to get past them or if you actually started fighting, the other person did to you what Napa has now done twice this season. What would be the first thing you told the cops when you were able?

You'd tell them you got headbutted.

So what makes Napa's hit any different?

The only accident in it was I don't think there was an intent to injure. But given his form with this type of tackling, I have to conclude that the hit, especially the way he hit leading with his head, was intentional. He didn't just fall into it by accident.

Napa needs to look at his own technique to prevent being so reckless and dangerous, but he shouldn't be 100% accountable for ball carriers who don't watch where they are going. The thing is McCulloch was completely indifferent to where Napa was. McCulloch wasn't even looking. Same as Dean Young when he got smashed by Inglis, but the media turned on Inglis. If you're carrying the ball you have to show some personal responsibility too. You can bet when Terry Randall or Ron Gibbs were playing the ball carriers were fully aware of where they were.

sharks v knights on now.

like everyone go watch as toddy says the nrl is super duper uber awesome!
