I’m not unhappy with our performance, iv seen effort and resilience. Compared to this time last year, we look much better.

It is 100% clear though that we need a proper full time hooker. Croker is full of effort but that’s just not enough to win a comp..

Our pack needs to pull its finger out in the second half, we have had zero go forward and therefore the backs have had zero space

it’s been the same story for the last 5 years or more for Manly and it seems like it hasn’t been addressed at all in the off-season

Okay I know all on here are incredibly one eyed, perhaps me included, but does anyone else think Penrith are playing like a bunch of thugs? They're doing dodgy things in tackles all the time. I've officially added them to my super-hate list.
Go Manly!
The commentary can stfu too.

Its been a great effort imo.

Plenty of knockers on here, and we might get beaten 30-6 but its been a gutsy first 40.
I need to borrow them rose tinted glasses.
We’ve been schooled convincingly without Nathan on the field. Gutsy in defence but we need to be a lot better than this in the second half.

I agree. I actually thought they showed a lot of defencive resolve with all those repeat sets.

Calls like that constantly change the momentum of the game. You get some refs that go nuts with repeat sets, then others seem to put the whistle away.

I just hope if we make some charges and get a roll on and panthers are trying to slow us down we get some 6 to go calls.

Its all about momentum. If we can get some we can score points.

The one potential positive is that Penrith really rely on playing a blistering up-tempo start and keeping the foot on the throat from there. If we can get some possession in the second half and drain their tanks there are vulnerabilities to be exploited. Keppie and Jake showed the way at the end of that half.

That last 15 minutes we got into the grind and completed sets and kick chased and abracadabra Penrith chew us some juice and we get a try.

Night time games against top teams are an arm wrestle not just touch footy. Much better the last bit of that half. Bravo.

Croker playing poorly but if Api was behind our pack in that half he would struggle too. Our poor completions and stupid play in the first 15mins coupled with the idiots constant 6 agains gassed us completely. Trying not to be too hard on guys but Bulles defensive reads, harpers play and Croker so far are the lowlights. Jake needs bloody better discipline as well.

We’re looking at 2 top 4 teams here. DCE needs to step up and dominate the territory. Got plenty of points in us if we can put them under pressure. Liking the defensive effort that wins premierships.

Agree. Its ****ed. Panthers were allowed to constantly get a roll on with repeat sets, sapping our energy and then allowed to slow to play the ball down.

The worst is constantly hearing the ref call our markers off. He is. Doing all he can to lay this on a platter for them.
and then you have to listen to Ennis going off about how we’re out on our feet in the last 20!
Because Gee set it up for the Panthers in the first 20. Blatant one sided six agains.

We did show resilience given the possession but shows how well Penrith is coached given they don’t have their best player.
We are lacking at dummy half badly and Jake doing all the tackling in the middle.

Thought we got bullied (with the help of a compliant ref) and didn't show much inclination to want to do anything about it for much of that half. Then Keppie and Haumole did some tough running and Jake proved he's our best dummy half. Finish to the half could not have been better.

For the second half, if we stop letting Yeoh run without challenge, mesmerising us like he's Cliffy Lyons, we'll do a hell of a lot better.
