It's been a beautiful sunny day, astounding to say. Some clouds around now but if there is rain I doubt it will be much. The field should play well, may be a bit slippery but nothing to prevent a good game of footy.

It's a massive in for Koula. Very rare for Des to take a risk and throw a kid in like this. He hardly played a game apart from early last year and now he's a vital #14 against the premiers.He must be a very special talent to get the nod here.

Des said in some interview this week, Koula has the ability to turn a match. I can't wait to see him in action tonight, this is going to be another very enjoyable season.

Don't get me wrong, the kid is talented and his pace is a definite bonus. But he really is the 3rd choice #14 for tonight. If Schuster, Walker and Ben Trbojevic weren't out injured then I doubt Koula would be playing.

However ... in saying that, he is the #14 so good luck to him. And if he takes the field tonight, I hope he shows Penrith and the NRL what a speed demon he really is.

I could be wrong .. but I don't see Koula used as a #14 .. I see him simply as a replacement for an injury in the backline.

Ha, old? Let's just say 'mature'. I'll be 55 years a Manly supporter in May of course. Where have all the years gone? Still we have 8 premierships, and countless memories. Lets see if these Dezzie's Turbo bros, DCE, Foz and the very accurate Reuben G + all the team can get us another. I think we are at least due for a GF appearance.

Or maybe Des has seen the light. Being 1st game of the season, and possibly a soft track, there will be some very tired bodies out there. Koula could do some real damage fresh.

That's a very good point, that not much has been made of, at least that I have noticed.
The first time I saw him lining up a kick I thought he looked really well balanced. I hope with the confidence from last year his kicking becomes a real weapon for us, turning each try into 6 etc. Good goalkickers can win close games, so go Rueben!
