How is he allowed to referee a match with St George-Illawarra where he played 16 games? Watching the first few minutes it was obvious he was favouring the red-and-whites, caning the Titans with penalties.

I would like to know how he is allowed to referee any game.

Do you not have a referee who played for a team or various teams referee their games? What about those with family connections to certain clubs like Grant Atkins who's dad played in the 1976 GF for doesn't-matta and later went on to captain Easts during the mid-80s. And I dare say just about every NRL referee, linesman etc grew up supporting a certain team.

All you can do is hope that as a referee they are professional enough not to let any of that affect how they call a game. Of course that doesn't always happen (e.g. Atkins canned us last year against the Eels at Brookie), but we can hope.

Didn't watch the game but there was a topic on him last week and it was the general consensus he is the worst ref in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just incompetence rather then bias

The alternative is to just bring people in who don't know anything about the game at all to be the refs.

Maybe the solution is not elite players. Most elite players would have to be somewhat competitive in nature and could be hard to let years of bias go.
Maybe they should look for ex reserve or CRL players. Maybe target pkayers that have stopped playing early due to an injury but can still maintain fitness to get involved .

I agree more ex-players should become refs, however historically they don't seem to last. I think they are too much the voice of reason and the idiots that run the reffing ranks like to keep a closed shop

He's the worst referee in the league - doesn't matter who is playing he is equally atrocious to all.

The NRL know they should flick him but they want ex players to referee so they turn a blind eye.

Got nothing to do with bias.

Got me stumped why @Budgewoi Eagle won't get in the trench with you and I .... maybe it is that @Mark from Brisbane or @Pittwater Legend she thinks are dodgey?

When I turned to ask him what he meant...the bugger had hot-wired and stolen my car!!

They found him two weeks later up in Thangool. When interviewed he said he was on his way to Banana, as he heard it was appealing.
