Ponga

Turbo might be in trouble when it comes to that fullback position for the green and gold. I’ll prob get a lot of hate for this but Ponga is a better all round player

I doubt Turbo will be play origin unless he turns it on from this week. Tedesco isn't exactly setting the world on fire either.

I think Tom is built for Origin but his last 4 weeks have been, like our whole side, far from his best.

I have been saying that after I say Ponga play against us in round 1. the kid is going to be the best going around.

I'll reserve my assessment on Ponga for a year. Its easy for some coming in, in their first year, and do the unexpected. Other coaches are unprepared for what such players have to offer. But like all players he will be found out and find next year much more diffcult to do the spectacular. No question he's destined to be one the the entertainers of the game, but unlike Turbo, he's not yet constrained by tactics aimed at limiting his skillful style. I wouldnt be saying he's better than Tom T. at all at this stage. Easy to forget Tom is only a year older yet has been in first grade now for several years. This is Ponga's first full year in first grade.

From the few games I have watched, Ponga more and more is looking a level above the other players on the field. I have watched very few non-Manly games this year, started a few but turned them off as the game is really boring me, but I'll keep an eye out for Knights games just to watch the kid play.

Not making any outlandish predictions or anything, but the last time I recall a player being so far above in individual talents was when I used to get down to Brookie to watch Fulton go round.

So many things can derail young shooting stars but I hope he kicks on as he is just good to watch. Knights crowds and memberships will go through the roof and they'll be in a grand final within 5 years, or less!

* and no I'm not drunk or stoned, lol

Ponga’s brilliant. I dare say everyone enjoys watching him play apart from Cowboys stakeholders. Imagine letting this kid go to re-sign Lachlan Coote. Coote’s a decent footballer no doubt, but this guy is next level.

I'm exactly the same (even down to not drunk or stoned - a good thing at 9 am!). I turn on to watch the kid. In a game that has become so predictable, this kid is pure joy. I hope, despite the naysayers, he continues to grow and shine.

We have not seen the best of Tommy Turbo for a while and I think we forgot just how good he is .
Just a friendly reminder feathered friend .....
Tom is a very talented footballer.. will go down as one of the best for manly. But Ponga has it all. It’s deju vu all over again re: Stewart and slater

He is an outstanding talent. I too am watching Knights games just to see Callum Ponga. To me he is the most exciting player to burst onto the scene this decade.
What brilliant foresight on the part of Knights recruitment.

I’m the same don’t watch other games besides knights and panthers of late. Mainly because of Ponga and all the outstanding youth in the Penrith system coming through. I believe Penrith will win the Comp this year, if not next year. But back on Ponga, I can’t stand the knights, but he is one player I love watching, and there has been no other non manly player before him I have done so other than joey johns

Not really - his talent was obvious in the lower grades and again when he played NRL for the Cowboys. They were desperate to keep him, too, but his father basically sold him to the highest bidder, which was Newcastle.

He’s a talent , but let’s see how he goes in year two or after a few injuries ( which will happen).

Meanwhile I agree he’s an excitement machine!

Guy is a freak. Best player on the field in their loss the other night. Can ball play like Thurston, speed to burn, crazy step, beats apponents with ease, always dangerous. What a talent.

The more plays the more he is showing his talents. Great passing and if it wasn't for Sio dropping it cold another two Try assists last night.
At this trajectory he will be possibly the best ever, but as we have seen in the past it only takes one injury and I doubt the knights will put a strong enough team around him to stake those claims
