Good question which Todd won't answer. Who does he think he is? His bullying, patronising and insulting lecturing to our coaches legitimate refereeing complaints is unforgivable and it is clear from this massive mishandling of a serious issue that he is unfit for the job. I ask again - who does he think he is?

Seriously don't we need to get back to basics. The old way made the game great, it was for the people, going to a weekend game (granted there was little TV) with my Dad looking at my hero's (which palyers had time to spend with kids after games), the game was supposably had the values that tried to make the game day help the supporters forget about life for 2 or 3 hours. I remember sitting on the hill at Brookie on my Dad's shoulders so I could see the game. Where has that gone? To see and hear the hits, to see your hero's break the line and score. There was none of this reliance on stagnating the game because of political correctness. Have we changed the game to extent we have killed it?

Junior football was , if a ref didn't turn up, then one of the Dads from team 1 would ref one half and an opposing Dad would do the second half. Soccer does this, AFL does this.

When you get into senior local football, then those kids who still wanted to be involved in the game but didn't / wasn't able to play went to refereeing. What has seriously changed? Sure technology is there but really that's only used in Senior football, if numbers are short then encourage people to apply.

Bringing children into this, or telling coaches to grow up is a cover up of people living in penthouses, justifying their jobs. At the end of the day the game should be about the supporters, the little kids throwing a football in the street each afternoon (maybe not in Sydney traffic).

And finally, it's not just us Silvertails having a comment or two, it's every supporter. Yet we are told it's all of us, the game is great, but its all in our imaginations.

Just to highlight the attendance differentials, in Melbourne one of the early finals matches attracted 95,000 spectators.
The AFL is doing a lot right.

Cost is another HUGE issue; I read on here in the last couple of days that Allianz was charging $10 for a bucket of chips!

Within 10 years the game will be broadcast once again on ABC, the numbers seriously that bad. Those million dollar a season player contracts will be $100K and the game will be forced back to its grass roots. The only problem is most at the grass roots level will be at the AFL or soccer.

I was at allianz in the members area on Saturday, chips were $6.20, Pie was $5.60 sauce included, Fat yak was $8.20 and a carlton draught about $6. Can't remember the rest but looks like a couple of bucks more than the MCG by that price list.

All that has been written here is on the money.
The NRL at some point has thought to itself , "We can be like the NFL".
It has dreamt big and done little.
Thus all this big stadium bullsh*t.
And all the while it has allowed the game itself to become an over refereed, stop start, wrestle mania of its former self.
Meanwhile the off field imbalances between clubs continues and Greenberg fiddles while the grassroots die.

When your product is beyond reproach, you can yell to the heavens at anyone who criticises it. But when it is clearly in poor health, the last thing you do is attack those who raise concerns about its well being. Kent & Webster are both singing from the same prayer book which suggests they have been tapped on the shoulder to remind them of which side their bread is buttered. Thank god for Phil Rothfield, he sees it like the fans do.

I took my two kids to SFS on Sat nite - for dinner;

1 chicken burger
2 chicken strips & chips
2 cokes
2 crunchies

$52.99 for a fairly average quality as well - I would expect to pay about $25 at the local takeaway at the most,
