I don't think the scout can take much credit in finding them. They were pretty much on the radar of every club. We just backed Glenn in when other clubs wouldn't, not sure at the time if we really didn't think he'd make it but thought it was worth it to get Brett, but we did anyway when other clubs didn't.
Sometimes scouts can get too much credit. For example that peanut Peter O'Sullivan who is now at the Roosters. He likes to promote himself as the scount who found Inglis and Folau. Yep, what a genius to take a punt on the kids who were a foot taller, quicker and bigger than anyone else on the field. Whilst they are important, IMO they are only a small piece of the final puzzle, no point in identifying talent unless the club has the right coaching plans/structures and just as important a club culture which helps in their development. If you don't have that you can have the most talented kids in the country and none of them will come good.
