Reasons WHY Manly improve 2018

I just read an article (courier mail I think) about each clubs worst case scenario.

All other 15 clubs it was player related but good ole Manly's was ... Salary Caaaaaaap! Baaaaaa!

That's right, baa!

I think another year of combo's, (5/8th notwithstanding) will get us improving still. Seems as though the guys were gutted about how they went out last year and so even more fire in the belly is coming.

I'm waiting to see how Tom Wright handles first grade in the centres or wing. If he can keep his mind on the job, he could make one of the most explosive combinations with Tom T in the comp. The kid has such great deceptive movements, variable pace, jinking and strength, he could be a real X factor in the backline

Many players in the current Manly squad are at the stage of their career's where they should be on the rise and ready for some natural improvement . As long as the more experienced and seasoned team members can give the necessary direction and guidance , the team should be on the improving and more competitive trajectory . Nothing can be guaranteed or totally predictable but again all of the necessary ingredients are there for some positive results for the Sea Eagles this approaching season .

If Croker and Hastings fail to make the mark at 5/8 next season, I would suggest young Kelly being given a chance in that role. Not sure what his kicking skills are like but he's a goal kicker so he's probably got a sense of how to kick in general play. But as many suggest he's not a real speedster, but he does have very good speed and evasiveness over about 20-30 metres. He's also a clever ball distributer and follows the play well. With that first year of experience and added strength, he may just have the type of game ideal for pivot. Some of his play reminds me of a young Napper, when he was a centre at Norths before he came to Manly.

I had a similar left field suggestion with Kelly a couple of months ago and mainly because he is basically an instinctive and natural footballer . Still some major adjustments to make if this was ever considered but if Matt Wright could make a decent fist of playing there and which he has , the same analogy could apply for Kelly if things do not work out in other areas

I’m thinking we will improve based on the fact it’s largely the same team as 2017 with the addition of a very experienced forward leader.

Forget the absence of Green, others will step up!!

After all for some it’s now or never.

Tell us about your holiday Mark. Carn. Give us the gos. It is the off season and time for some fun anecdotes
