Heartbreaking news and so very sad. Watching Beau in episode 6 of The Manly Way, he was so courageous and upbeat and it was wonderful for the boys to give him some joy and lift his spirits, as well as after the Cows game. Thinking of his family, friends and Tom, Jake, Ben and all the boys.

Poor little boy. Horrendous stuff.

Through all the pain and hopes and hopes dashed, it must have been the smallest comfort that his favourite team gave him their love and attention. Joy in a time of endless struggle.

It's a reminder also of what our sports stars encounter that us mere mortals don't. I don't know how the Beau relationship came about but quite often you hear of players of many sports visiting children's hospitals, hosting sick kids at training, making their wishes come true. The really compassionate ones form bonds and suffer the heartbreak as much as any friend would. Kudos to those players and our hearts go out to them for their loss too. It will be hard.

But mostly it's Beau's Mum and Dad who'll suffer this the rest of their days. Awful.

He seemed such a special little boy who touched so many with his bright attitude and smile.
