Benji was the head coach at the Tigers last year, and was allegedly doing the head coaching role behind the scenes in 2023, even though Tim Sheens was the name in the record books. The Tigers won the wooden spoon in both years (granted, they also won it in 2022). They've had some good wins, but their current position of 12th is not outstanding either.

I think this is the point... What is the lowest ladder position you would accept as part of a rebuild with another rookie coach? And when would you pull the trigger if it wasn't working?
I have already expressed my opinion regarding a rebuild. I would be prepared to sit tight if we start seeing real results by the third season under a rebuild coach. Unfortunately, Seibs is not that guy. He has not played the long game and signed on as a coach who would help us see success during our "premiership window." For that reason and the terrible recruitment which has followed, he needs to go.

The NRL is littered with failed coaches who were the "next big thing"..... wrong job, wrong time.

Someone who has a good history and a resume from a strong club like Panthers, Storm or Roosters would be where I would look. A few young coaches seem to have made the transition from assistant to head coach quite well eg Craig Fitzgibbon, Cameron Ciraldo and although early days Jason Ryles has been doing some OK things cleaing out the steaming pile of shxt that is Parramatta. I'll be surprised if Eels don't start to ascend the ladder in coming seasons,
Lube we know you're a specialist, best inda bussiness mate, but there's none around all gonski champ.

I wonder if he came in with an owner who honest thinks he was gifting a team with Premiership window mantra.

Recruited as requested to win the comp immediately.

The glimmer of hope is he is not Des, there is recruiting a young underbelly. Hopate, Walsh, Hart, Mafoa, Laifai, Navale.

There is potential coming through

Seibs seen Lehi talent last year during pre season and selected him when he was ready. And stuck strong with him.

He may not always think a kid is ready but when he does he backs em.

I'd be happiest with Ballin but I could also stomach Ennis. I just want either one of them to take over from 2026. If the saying group aren't united we will never beat sides like Penrith and the Dogs in the finals.

He obviously agreed with Penn when he signed that we were in a premiership window hence all the hyperbole that followed. He hasn't been more successful than Des. Seibs results are worse than Des achieved in his second stint. We don't need an insecure Penn yes man to bring through the young players we have. The club need strong characters who the young players respect.

Just my opinion.

Mind boggling how some posters think Seibs deserves a chance at a rebuild when he wasn't brought in for that reason. He couldnt guide the team with the T bros, Brooks and DCE to a title and now people think he deserves a crack with a bunch of juniors. Funny the last time he did that in a similar capacity was with the Broncos, and they ended up with a wooden spoon.

Surely Watmough’s position at the club is no longer tenable, if he’s trying to rally a mutiny against the head coach?

Or it may bring things to a head, & either Seibold or Choc (or both) are shown the door?

I guess we’ll know sooner or later who the club decides to back in this fight.

Des was recruiting with a long-term outlook. While some people found it boring to have a few years with stand in centres (Parker, Harper), it’s what you need to do if development is a priority. People don’t like waiting. He’d slowly introduced Koula, Olakauatu, Schuster. Hoppa, Humphreys, Weekes were next. Fultons and Penn wanted their favourite son ( Schuster ) rocketed to 5/8. When the opportunity arises they bring in Seibold - a friend who had no chance of getting a job elsewhere.

Come 2023 and the inpatient get their wish with Schuster. Injuries lead to Weekes getting a chance at fullback - immediately became clear he wasn’t ready. Seibold persisted until his confidence had been eroded.

By the end of 2023, Schuster had burned out and Weekes was a freebie for other teams to resurrect. We buy brookes who will forever be just good enough to not be dropped. Our forwards get a fair few signings but all same build, all same speed, lacking skillset and low ceilings. Burbo locks up the second row position - could’ve easily spent more time building up to it off the bench. Garrick feels comfortable enough to demand the centre spot - that move falls flat but was no chance of reverting until Trbo’s centre shift. Saab’s form deteriorates in 2024-25 and he’s no closer to being swapped out with many replacements ready.

Hopoate has been handled fairly well I think - no complaints there

Navale for some reason getting no opportunities (only now gets a chance with injuries, season already gone). Talau usually sitting on the bench and players like Waddell seemingly have no pressure. Our best middle forward is Bullymore who was signed by Des as another player to develop long term.

I think we still have an ok frame to build a team around, but I think we pick a new coach and stick with him long term. Seibold feels like a soulless, unaccountable TBaz 2.0. Felt that way in 2022 and feel that even more today
