Listening to James Graham speak about the leadership, passion, and commitment of Ennis has got me a lot more curious at the prospect of him heading our coaching department after Seibold

But I also wouldn't be too disappointed to see Peters, Burgess, or Morris take over either

I totally agree that Seibold’s biggest failing is recruitment. I get that he hasn’t had cap space to really go after some big fish but the panacea to that issue should have been an investment in youth. Instead, he went after the likes of Aaron Woods, Nathan Brown, Matt Lodge, and kept guys like Sipley, Croker, and Aloiai around the place. I’d have preferred a big clean out.
You don't think the likes of Joey Walsh, the Large brothers, Hart et al are investing in youth?

These guys obviously have to develop & come through the system, so until they're ready, salary cap restrictions have likely forced budget recruitment in the older heads you've listed. Those same restrictions were what forced us to let go the likes of Weekes & Humphreys, as they were ready to come into first grade & be upgraded & we simply couldn't afford them any longer.

A total clean out is a massive thing to do & would have to be well planned out before committing to it. The constant turnover of CEOs (until Mestrov) & coaches the past decade surely wasn't conducive to planning a clean out.

Yes, they are exactly what we need. Bravo.
So why haven't we seen them when our season went into free-fall? Why persist with several old stagers who were never capable of improving the teams' chances? Oh, and by the way, who are still in the team this week.
Far better to give us a glimp of our future than to continually remind us why we have failed.

The very next sentence in my post answered that:

"These guys obviously have to develop & come through the system".

We've seen Navale & Faulalo so far this season. It's possible (highly likely in the Large brothers given their ages at 16 & 17) the others are deemed not ready yet.

Ennis is our attacking coach, believe Dymock is our defensive coach, if Siebold and Ennis are smart they get Dymock some extra help now. If Ennis wants to be the head coach potential in 27 you could make your job easier by getting the defensive structures working in 26.

Can't believe he is still coach.

Stabbing Toovey in the back on while he is on live tv for made up reasons (results) has put a curse on us.

Sell up penn, you offer nothing.

DCE is one huge, enormous change. Don't underestimate the impact he has had on the entire team's success for quite some time
(if not convinced, ask @jbb/james and he'll explain it succinctly) @:)
Also has the most touches per game of any player in the game. iirc, this has been consistent for many years now. He's by far, the most influential part of this team. He has three or four touches every single set.

Whatever occurs, it'll be the biggest change to our structure since Foran left (both times).

What's interesting to note, is that Fogarty has more try assists and try involvements per touch, than DCE or Brooks.

Whilst “ invest in the youth & hope for the best “ is probably the only real way we can go , nevertheless, it would be nice to land at least one “ decent “ forward.

Not an aging plodder , but a decent , somewhat experienced , option who is perhaps unwanted or who can’t get a start where he is.

Surely the loss of Jazz, Sipley , AoA ( maybe Froggie ) gets us at least one??

Seibold might look to bring O’Brien in as assistant they have worked together before at the Storm and Knights.. would be an upgrade on our current assistants
Merge both clubs. Current both are in a race to the bottom. Together there may be a future for one mighty Northern NSW club.

No I don't.

They're just the good players in our pathways systems; every club has 3 or 4 guns. That's not an investment in youth, that's just par for the course across every club in the NRL; there's so much more to it than that. An investment in youth is anything but apparent when you wind up with our Dad's Army pack of forwards. An investment in youth is a swarm of young talent already in the FG side and a production line nipping at their heels.

The ball was dropped years ago. I don't entirely blame Seibs; Des was hardly building a production line himself. Just because we have a couple of promising players in the lower grade, does not constitute an investment in youth; every club in the NRL has a NSW Cup, SG Ball, Matts side, etc. Someone has to be playing in those sides.

Exactly, in the years before Seibold arrived we invested in the following young guns.

Schuster, Weekes, Olakau'atu, Koula, Fainus x 3, Tom Wright, Feledy, Paseka, Fafita to name but a few. It's laughable that people on here (most of whom I imagine would be Fulton haters) consider this an investment in youth. You know your stuff Leonard.

Fair enough, in response I'll quote what I posted to @The Who who also selectively quoted my post.

I'll also add the fact the club severed ties with the Western pathways system implemented by the Fultons & brought it back to our local catchment area. Obviously it will take time to see results from that since it only happened last year.
