How long does it takes to change habit/cap/team structure? Siebold now goes into four season in 26 and he should. He has had some time now to change the rooster, move on from past cap decisions and impress his style and coaching staff on what Manly will look like in 26. The rooster is decent for 26 so I see it as a really defining year of his coaching credentials.

Just because it is fun...
The last 3 weeks we have won,we have had as our starting forward pack
Lodge
Simpkin
TKO
Waddell
Burbo
Tevaga
Anyone who thought we could win one game against anybody with that forward pack at the start of the year yet alone 3 in a row....
Paseka, Croker,Aloiai,Ola,Jake injured is pretty significant.
Take Leota,Kenny,Smith,Martin and Yeo out of the Panthers etc ..and see how it goes,etc...
Our depth has allowed us to bow out in fighting style, bag the owner, the CEO,the coach, whatever floats your boat,or gets you through the day.
I am looking forward to next year whether we promote some youth or bring in anyone of note.
Upgrade and promote the likes of Willett,Kioa,Feledy,Lawry,Metcalfe,Large,Walsh,Laiafi,Sykes,Mafoa,Patolo,Dunford,Hart,Paulo,Muagututia etc ..
Bring on 2026.

People bag the likes of Lodge, and Jazz, and I can't pretend that I haven't done the same myself at times, but these people are vastly better depth pieces than what we had just two or three years ago. In 2022 and 2023, we had the likes of Kurt De Luis, Morgan Boyle, and Aaron Woods all in the Top 30. If we had an injury crisis of a similar scope back then, that's who we would be playing.

I think Seibold / Mestrov's roster management has been good, particularly given the state of the salary cap. I've said that for various reasons before, most decent young forwards are on hefty salaries even before they kick on, e.g. Trey Mooney on $615k, so for these low value roster spots, people like Brown and Jazz make more sense than the Aitasi James' of the world.

That said, we have lost individuals like Munn, whilst we have extended Brown for maybe a year too long. It isn't always perfect.

The main criticism I level against Seibold, and what worries me about next year, was his inability this year to promote individuals such as Navale, when the NRL squad was clearly lacking mobility. I just hope he doesn't wait as long next year.

People love bagging Lodge , but given he’s on the absolute minimum dollars he’s a fair backup.

The same people bag Waddell, again no superstar , but on not much more than minimum dollars.

Both a fair backups , and it’s not their fault that due to the injury crises they have been run on players for much of the year.

But I’d assume Lodge won’t be on “absolute minimum dollars” if they re-sign him. He may of been on minimum this year but he certainly didn’t do anything that warrants any kind of upgrade,he did the bare minimum. He won’t stay around next year if they only offer him a train and trial again

No but he might go from train & trial ( match payments ) to the minimum NRL contract , so maybe instead of earning )$150k it might be $220k, so in my opinion still minimums.

If we could sign a young gun instead I’ll be all for it BUT ????

Absolutely, I hear you! The last three weeks have been a proper statement given the injuries and gaps in the forward pack. Winning with Lodge, Simpkin, TKO, Waddell, Burbo, and Tevaga at the start would’ve seemed a stretch to anyone—so credit where it’s due.

We all thought we had a top-4 roster last year, and this year. The positive thing is that even if we miss the finals again—or just scrape in limping—our juniors are thriving. Depth has been our saving grace—look how well the juniors went! Hopefully we keep developing a strong junior base. While it’s easy to bag whoever, the fact we’re still competing in style says a lot about the squad.

I’m really hoping our coach can make Lodge captain like he did at the Broncos and bring him into the top 30 for next year—or even add him to a development deal like Woods had—it’ll be great to see what he can do with a full pre-season and not starting the season odd training with cup.

Excited to see the mix of youth stepping up and key upgrades coming through. Names like Willett, Kioa, Feledy, Lawry, Walsh, Laiafi, Sykes, Mafoa, Patolo, Hart, Paulo, Muagututia, etc. could really take us to the next level. Dunford is gone, so it’ll be interesting to see who fills that gap.

But hey, Klemmer will be a great pick-up—he fits the classic Manly Cove DNA perfectly!

Knowing our luck, roster management will be just as ‘creative’ next year… so I’ll be keeping my seatbelt on for another wild ride!

Here’s to 2026—bring it on!

That, and he's still trotting out the excuses for another wasted season.

It infuriates me that he feels the need to tell reporters that usually a 50-50 season would get a team into the eight - like that's as high as we were ever going to aim. And that we've had injuries and disruptions and a lot of "outside noise" - even though at the start of the year "The Manly Way" bull**** was all about controlling the "chaos". We had plenty of chaos, Seibs. And how did we handle it? Not very well, mate. Not very well at all.

He's proud that we stuck together, and he's proud that we won our last three games. He's even proud that the players enjoyed themselves through the season. And that's fine. But it's all just so… soft. The hard-edge, win-at-all-costs attitude that any good footy team needs is nowhere to be found.

If next year is his last year as coach, he's going to want to aim a lot higher than having fun and achieving a 50% win record.

[I don't know what compels me to watch Seibold's pressers after the game - really, they are infuriating. But at least next year he won't have DCE and his stupid grin and that smug-as-f#ck "I've got a secret!" look on his face sitting beside him.]

We also get Jake doing a presser every week. That's a gold mine and worth it just for Jake.

Really well said.... exactly how I felt when is was watching it.

Yep. I also hated that 50/50 comment in the presser. It just sucked and said he is OK with mediocrity.

Do you know where Dunford is heading?
