Sack Spoony Siebold

I need to ask the Kennel on your behalf
Why didnt you keep him ?
Good question, i looked into it and it appears the decision was made by Dymock to take a role at the Sharks and appeared to have no bad blood, i am not so sure of his coaching ability which is surpring because he was an apprentice to Des Hasler when he took Canterbury to 2 grand finals, maybe what he learnt under Des isnt applicable to the current game

Not too sure how attributing another poor team showing can realistically be mainly directed at either a coach or ownership level .
They were not the ones missing crucial tackles or being unable to step up or adapt on field as a unit when it really mattered and in this instance , against a very willing and looks like much improved Eels .
Yet last week , there was justified praise all round , including from a coaching angle when Manly were really able to step up to the plate for a decisive win .
Being one of the comps most inconsistent sides for some time now is more the issue and that can only be down to the playing squad collectively , even allowing for some exceptions with individual efforts

That would make sense, Des seems to struggle himself in the modern game

Unfortunately, Parra were the better side on the night. (hard to admit)
From the hill it still looks like the main issues are defence & mindset.
It also looks like a few are carrying injuries.
Hopefully lessons learnt.
Onto the next!

like most threads on Silvertails, it’s the players OR the coach, not both! Why?

I see players that aren’t up to and they are the ones missing tackles and making poor reads. But a number of those players were recruited by the coach. He’s assembled a Dad’s Army forward pack and it’s getting owned most weeks.

The problem is a lot of the bog average footballers we’ve got, but they’re getting jerseys off our coach and it’s his job to get the best out of them; so it’s BOTH!

We need to bring through a young former Many player, ala Des in 2004 and let him rebuild. Possibly Ballin, but I am unsure who else may fit the bill.
The sad reality is that the former champion Manly players of the 06-13 era have no love for the club any more. The majority of them want nothing to do with their former employer for the way they were treated at the back end of their careers. I've spoken to a few of them over the years and there was an overwhelming realisation of betrayal across the board. The fact is that the Manly DNA is actually extinct. We, the fans, are its last remnants. It's very difficult for us to come to terms with this

Who puts the structure in place? The owners

Who accepts the mediocrity that we have become? The owners

Coaches, players come and go…
They're also responsible for the product being put on the park. Ergo, no good forwards.

The fact Lodge is on our roster tells you all you need to know about the current culture of our club.

Teams get found out very quickly when you don't have any forwards who can make meters, post contact meters and stay on your front for quick play the balls. We not only lack any forward who can do that, except Olakau'atu who seems to be in neutral at the moment, but our inability to dominate in defense as well. That all comes down to the coach and who he picks.

I'm not in the sack Seibs camp because I think rebuilds set clubs back years. With a better roster, I think he can do OK. However, I don't feel a strong connection to this roster. I don't feel passionate about our players. I like the Trbo's, Garrick, Hoppa, Koula, Bully, Ola, and Croker, but the rest are just not 'Manly' type players. Even a guy like TKO, who has been playing OK, is a Rooster. Brooks is a Tiger. Tevaga is a Warrior. Guys like Lodge, Aloiai, and co. are just soulless mercenaries. I'm not getting a 'culture' vibe from this team. It feels very disconnected.

There are some good judges on here who think results would be the same if Bellamy was coach, so I guess that means sacking Seibold is not the answer.

We seem to have a constant rotation of forwards every week, where everyone except Haumole are in and out of the lineup. We simply dont have a guy like Payne Haas / Fonua who can play for 80 minutes week in week out with that massive workload.

This squad is better(on paper) than Souths, arguably Canberra’s(forwards not so much)and those two teams are ahead of Manly and they are a far better squad than the Dragons and Tigers, yet they’re equal on points.Souths have had injuries to some of their very best players, but Auntie Wayne still gets them to play to a well structured, cohesive game plan

I'm not ready to give up on Siebold until we hit the post DCE / Turbos taking a pay cut era. If we still have a crap squad then, then he will have lost me. But man it stings to lose games like last night.

But if Burbo played I think we could have won, most of our defensive issues were where Waddell should have been.

Come up with a serious contender, not failed coaches from other clubs 😂
I think he is a serious contender. His coaching record is light years ahead of Anthony Siebold. Are you aware of his career record? There has been a lot of winning to go with his time on the Gold Coast.

To be clear, I can cop losing when the team is moving in the right direction. I don't think we are moving in the right direction. I think we got lucky against the Bulldogs in the semi last year before getting destroyed by the Roosters. How Siebold didn't recruit a backrower in the off season is downright ridiculous. A decision that exposes his cluelessness compared to other coaches. Then there's his ongoing misuse of the bench.

the owner and CEO are responsible for setting unrealistic KPIs in the coach's contract, causing the coach to prioritise short-term survival over long-term success. This is because the unrealistic KPIs create pressure to achieve immediate results, potentially hindering the coach's ability to focus on building a strong, sustainable team and developing players for the future.
