Say "hi!" next time you're here, Lurk...

Loobs

Living in the demountable.
All heroes deserve medals

Manly have done the right thing in organising an official farewell for retired trio Steve Matai, Brett Stewart and Matt Ballin next month.
But some fans don't think they've gone far enough.

They've called for Anthony Watmough and Glenn Stewart to be added to the lap of honour on September 2.But it won't happen.

Watmough delivered plenty of parting shots at the Sea Eagles after taking up a big money offer at Parramatta.

And G Stewart still hasn’t forgiven or forgotten the club after he was pretty much forced into an ill-fated move to South Sydney.

Obviously glommed that from here so at least be nice and say hi to us next time you pop around mate...

Ive always admired Watmough for what he has done for our club on the field , and for what manly did for him . Its going to take alot of years personally for me to forgive him . He bit the hand that fed him .Good luck watmough.

Whilst I was disappointed by Anthony Watmough's comments after he left us for more money (gee that's a first, Fulton & Vautin to Rooters), he gave his all for this club and gut busted up in the process. He was a local junior who played for us between 2002 and 2014 playing in our premiership winning sides in 2008 and 2011 and the 2009 Club Championship. In 2007 and 2009 he won the Dally M second rower of the year. On top of that he played for his state and his country. If that is not worth of a lap of honour nothing is.

Glen Stewart played for us between 2003 and 2014 playing in our premiership winning sides in 2008 and 2011 and the 2009 Club Championship. In 2008 he won the Dally M second rower of the year. On top of that he played for his state and his country. If that is not worth of a lap of honour nothing is.

These two guys formed one of the most dynamic and successful back row combinations in the history of our proud club. Quite frankly I find the ongoing feuds betweens NRL players and officials tiresome and rather childish.

I am ashamed that we have not honoured these guy's contribution to our great club and it's time we got it right. There should be a lap of honour for the 5 former Manly Champions, Watmough, Glen Stewart, Brett Stewart, Matia and Ballin. These guys are Manly immortals.

Let's be decent human beings Manly and get it done!

Exactly - I'm fine with Choc going. Be kinda sad to still hold a grudge for a few choice words when he helped us to two premierships and busted his ass (and after seeing him concussed a bunch of times and play on - his head too) for the club...

Choc also gave me one of my favourite Brookie memories which was when he niggled away at Scott Prince all game, finally getting him to throw down and get dusted - in a pre-season match!

I've definitely let Chocs comments fade away like his playing career but I remember the sacrifices he made to his body and mind for our proud club.
He said some unforgivable things in the heat of the moment that I didn't consider excusable when it all came out initially, but like every other player that has to spend the rest of their life crippled with injuries and concussion concerns, I empathize and wish the club would acknowledge his accomplishments and role in the clubs success as well as the rest of the players mentioned. It would be nice to see the club act like 'the bigger person' and honor the blood, sweat and toil these guys gave to the Sea Eagles

Wouldn't of taken much to say " look I said a few things I regret, I hope I can still be considered part of the Sea Eagles family in the future".

But no, not a word!

**** him!

Well said @HoldenV8 !

Yes Choc did a lot for Manly but I'll never forget or forgive him for his parting words about the very club who had awarded him life membership. Not welcome...ever!

I thought in the process of time he might've shown some regret, but no, nada , nothing.

Based on that agree, not welcome.

Hey Mark! : )
I do feel you, but on the other hand I just wonder.. He's always been that embarrassing meathead, ripe for a clickbait quote, go-to guy for some explosive comments. He played like that too which is why we used to defend it so heartily to Manly haters. I know how hard it is to cop from the other end, but I think the stand off with Watmough could last forever and have a cascading affect on other past players relationships, mentorships, legacies, ambassadorial roles etc.. I feel like the Sea Eagles have to be the bigger person and extend the olive branch initially, Chocs way too immature to yield. Imagine the last laugh we'd get with Parramatta too..

I don't know if Im trying to look at a bigger picture or just feeling too forgiving coz I'm feeling good about it being a friday afternoon, but wither way, he won't budge first and I'm willing to humor him if it meant Gifty, Mattai and Co. were back in good terms with the Sea Eagles in a 'stronger together' sense

I get your side as well mate , I do.

And to be honest it's more likely that it will just be wiped under the carpet.

I expect to see him at a Golden Eagles day at some stage.

Doesn't mean I'll cheer for him though.
