Say "hi!" next time you're here, Lurk...

I get your side as well mate , I do.

And to be honest it's more likely that it will just be wiped under the carpet.

I expect to see him at a Golden Eagles day at some stage.

Doesn't mean I'll cheer for him though.

Me too, I believe we'll se him there one day. Although I can only imagine it if we make the first move. I too won't cheer him the same way I used to but I could swallow some pride to get the other disgruntled ex-players back in the frame and it won't hurt our image to show some class. Parra would hate that haha

Hey Mark! : )
I do feel you, but on the other hand I just wonder.. He's always been that embarrassing meathead, ripe for a clickbait quote, go-to guy for some explosive comments. He played like that too which is why we used to defend it so heartily to Manly haters. I know how hard it is to cop from the other end, but I think the stand off with Watmough could last forever and have a cascading affect on other past players relationships, mentorships, legacies, ambassadorial roles etc.. I feel like the Sea Eagles have to be the bigger person and extend the olive branch initially, Chocs way too immature to yield. Imagine the last laugh we'd get with Parramatta too..

I don't know if Im trying to look at a bigger picture or just feeling too forgiving coz I'm feeling good about it being a friday afternoon, but wither way, he won't budge first and I'm willing to humor him if it meant Gifty, Mattai and Co. were back in good terms with the Sea Eagles in a 'stronger together' sense
This is the big picture ....
No one is bigger than the club and every one should always respect the holy grail

Kill him with kindness and your bigger picture still remains in tact

A club as strong as ours shouldn't get upset so easily.. We are Manly enough to get over it.
Watch him retract his comments by winning him over again and he'll probably start dumping on doesntmatta instead

*Just a theory *

The fact is we did treat him with kindness and supported him through his disorderly ways and that meant nothing to him in the end .
The Manly brand is not a piece of sht . Its the holy grail

Ok man cool..
Did you have that meme first before trying to shape some words around it? Coz I don't know what you're 'saying'

At the end of the day we can all have our opinion on this for different reasons. I myself said it will take a long time to forgive , but ive had a re thought about this . The bloke actually bled for this club and we and that probably means all of us don't know the true facts in that mess . Whats done is done i suppose and that shouldn't take away the fact that choc was a legend for us . Im sure if i ran into him id still throw my hand out .

We don't know, probably won't know the full reason of what happened. The Stewart Bros, Skivvy and Ballin deserve a send off. Choc however is in the Hasler & Foran class. Get f****d, you got your payout, Parra got dispensation for it and we got nothing but a divided team, put poor old Tooves on a hiding to nothing.

Choc Wantmore made his bed, and by doing so let a proud legacy disintegrate.
He is an adult, he made his choice, and sadly he didn't go quietly into the night like gifty.

He should not be given the honor. What he said about the club prevents his lap from ever happening. And I agree with that.

That said, if he was to join up with the golden eagles after the slime finish paying him, I would not hesitate to say hello, thank him for the wins and for what he did. I am not the club, and personally; he spilt more blood for those wins than I ever hope to do in my lifetime.

So Choc - Manly should not give you a lap (we all pay for our sins), but the fans will buy him a beer when the slime association stops.

That seems right to me.

These were all one club men before being moved on by Manly. I understand the sentiments that no one is bigger than the club but at the same time feel for these players who would have wanted to and deserved to have finished their playing days at the club that they bled for. I can see how choc could be aggrieved given that he started his career at the age of 13 only to see it divided by in-house fighting and politics. The mistake he made was opening his mouth. He's entitled to his opinion. But politics aside, for him to declare to the media that he hated his former club where he got life membership in IMO is a point of no return. He certainly ain't going to have a career in the UN and he is the only one that shouldn't be given a farewell because he is the only one that gave the club, the players, former legends and all the fans the finger on his way out! Why should we give him the red carpet treatment?

I don't care about what happened between the players & the club.At the end of the day they were part of our 08 & 11 premiership sides & bled manly during those years. They all should be farewelled.

All other players aside, Choc should be honoured to have had played in 2 GF for Manly. He had his lap of honour then. Choc was granted a release from the final year of his contract. He left on his own terms. He walked away from the club and the fans without giving us the opportunity to farewell him... I don't deny that he bled for us when he played for Manly but as soon as he left he pissed all over our name.

While we are at it thanking choc, I think we should also invite Ribot to do a lap of honor. We never got to thank him for his 1982 season efforts.

Surely we can forgive him for royally screwing manly and the game of rugby league, creating the storm and making himself very rich in the process?

We would be mean and churlish as a club to deny him a standing ovation for 82.

While we are at it thanking ribot and choc, surely we can invite Gallup to sit in the back of the convertible with the Stewarts as it drives around brookie.

It's about redemption and forgiveness.
