Seb Wileman - centre

The Who

Journey Man
Just watched the Warringah Rats grand final defeat. However, their outside centre impressed me.
We really need a talented centre, rather than a behemoth, and he has good skills. He's 188cm tall, 98kg, 25 years old, pacy and has some mongrel. Before you all jump up and say rugby players don't make good league players let me remind you of Michael O'Conner. There is not that much difference between playing outside centre in rugby and league - that was my position and I played both.
I have been highly critical of our outside backs this season. We could use a real centre - not just a big body.

FFS suli's a kid who's coming good, if the new coach has any ppl skills this kid should improve out of site, that's why clubs were all throwing money at him..
What's the role of a centre? I'll help you here: It's to score tries or set up tries for his winger.
Suli has scored 1 try in 13 matches this season, and set up zero tries for his winger.
What are the attributes a centre needs? Pace, evasion skills, good hands, quick witted, good passing, good defensive reads . . .
Suli is simply a big boy playing out of position. He is not an outside back, but I think he could make a good forward.

Walker and Kelly are our centres for the next 5 years. We don't need any other centres.
We need all the class players we can get. We also need two classy wingers.
Walker is just as likely to punch a door, or be sidelined because he mouthed off.
I like the look of Tevita Funa, who is young but looks like a centre to me, not just a big body. Tom Wright may make a regular First Grader, but he's not grabbed his chances at this stage.

Can we all just agree our outside backs need work.

I dont feel like bagging anyone this end of the season but two new centers and two new wingers would be cool. If they could run the 100 in less than 13 seconds that would be ace too.

Maybe out 5/8 could make a decent center? Not sure.

We have a heap of outside backs who are quality. Tom Wright wasn't brought in properly. Trents to blame for that. He should have had some time on the wing. Then maybe centre then maybe 6. He showed what he has when he scorched the dragons. Funa and Anderson are guns and Parker is in my opinion a Michael Robertson style player for us. The kids younger than tommy T but experts on here write him off all the time. Outside backs are sorted. We don't need a twenty five year old club rugby player. Ffs.

The few times that I have watched union I was impressed by their pacy evasive outside backs that have the speed to cover the whole length of the field and turn a game up side down .
I have never seen this Rat guy . Does he have speed to burn ?. We have been lacking speed out wide this season as our outside backs easily got burned for pace .
There is nothing more exhilarating than watching a fast back exploding through a gap and leaving the opposition clutching at straws untouchable all the way to the try line .
You cant tackle the bustards if you cant catch them

I watched the game but admit didn't watch it that intently, but from what I saw, this bloke must be good if he caught your eye in that game.
Other than that the rats were totally overwhelmed.

Walker at his fittest best is the best centre in the game. Kelly is close to being one of the best backs in the game. We are fine at that department.

What about walker?
