IF you thought Curtis Sironen was good for Manly last season, watch him go in 2018.

That’s the message from Sironen’s proud father, Paul, who says his son has “grown up” after moving out of the family home last year.

“Curtis moved out of home a few months ago, which was nice,” Sironen grinned.

“He and his girlfriend were going from one home to another, between her place and ours.

“But they just needed their own space, so they moved out and now Curtis’ life away from football is very settled.”

Flash back to the back end of 2016, and Curtis was far from comfortable.

Sironen senior admits his son was at a crossroads at the Wests Tigers prior to joining the Sea Eagles.

Injuries and limited game time resulted in frustration, and a departure from Tiger town.

Thankfully, Curtis found his feet and form at Manly last season with 16 games in the back-row.

According to his father, leaving the Tigers was a blessing in disguise.

“Curtis knew himself that he had to grow up and mature,” he said.

“He just wasn’t settled. I think getting released from the Tigers he realised that everything doesn’t come easy in life and you’ve got to work hard.

“He went over to Manly and did that. It’s just part of growing up.”

Curtis may have moved out from the family home, but he hasn’t forgotten the address according to Sironen senior.

“He still comes home to get some love from his mum with a feed from time to time,” he said.

“To be fair, that never changes. You could be out of home for six months or six years, you like to get a home cooked meal from your mother.”

As revealed in The Daily Telegraph last month, Curtis is set to be rewarded for his performances at Manly with a contract extension.

Sironen senior confirmed the deal would be revealed in the coming weeks.

“It’s all there, but I think the club and the parties concerned are just waiting for the salary cap stuff to be sorted out,” he said.

“Once that is done, it can get made public.

“From where he was a bit over 12 months ago, he has worked really hard, so he deserves it.”

When a young man moves out of home, you can guarantee two things.....

He'll always come home for one (or lots more) of mum's meals.....and to get his washing done lol.

DONE DEAL BUT SIRONEN PLAYS WAITING GAME

Manly have re-signed backrower Curtis Sironen for a further three years.

The only problem is they won’t be confirming the deal anytime soon.

Unable to register any contracts until their salary cap position with the NRL has been resolved, Sironen has signed the paperwork on the deal but will be forced to wait for the club to acknowledge the deal.

Not that he’s concerned. He’s just thrilled to have his career back on track.

“When he got me over here I knew I had so much to prove,” Sironen told Market Watch.

Curtis Sironen of the Sea Eagles is tackled.
“Baz (Coach Trent Barrett) having faith in me helped with the confidence. He’s invested in you and wants you to do well.

“I really appreciate it. It’s been a blessing coming here. I’ve come here and trained a lot harder and appreciated it a lot more.

“Getting to first grade early, you think it’s going to be all laxy dazy but I didn’t do the work. I’m enjoying being here and training hard.”

Joining the Sea Eagles from the Wests Tigers in 2017, Market Watch can reveal the Tigers are still paying part of Sironen’s contract for 2018.

The Sea Eagles will assume the full freight of Sironen’s new deal from 2019 which is understood to be worth around $400,000 a season
