Adding my two cents worth, what amazes me is DCE played within the rules and many are shortsighted not realising a number of first grade players have agreed to deals with other clubs but then back flipped. Inglis, Tedesco, Moltzen and Papalli come to mind but did they receive the backlash that DCE did? Of course not. But the media will find excuses and a scapegoat only that scapegoat is DCE and not the real villain in this.

The real culprit in this is the NRL and the blame and anger should be directed towards them. I say "You reap what you sow".

I think Qlders are right to question the moral fibre of anyone who doesn't honour a contract. I mean look at their golden boys Smith, Slater, Inglis and Cronk, they're of such high integrity they honoured two contracts at the same time.

What really irks me is that the Gold Coast were on the brink of collapse until the NRL propped them up with cash. They were in no position to even offer DCE a contract yet the NRL just disregarded conflict of interest to sign DCE. If Manly was in the same position I wonder how much assistance the NRL would have offered us.
