Yep, Latrell puts the effort in on the big stage, it's at club level that he's inconsistent & goes missing.

And his niggly stuff looks petty and weak at club level but is suited to the theatre of Origin (where, ironically, he tends to put it away)

Qld was stuck in neutral! Never write them off mate. NSW & cock jockeys like Johns, Gould etc. have a habit of carrying on about how great NSW is yet who has won the most series? The fanfare should wait until the series is over!

Problem QLD had is many of the tactics they would have traditionally used in the past to slow down the game, force turnovers or just generally get momentum back are now overpoliced and resulted in cheap penalties… not a shot at QLD, just an observation - the gritty stuff has always been the thing they do best..

The days of Gommersol are gone, dirty tactics no longer get turned a blind eye to and the Captain’s Challenge is a game-changer.. on top of that, NSW just have a bloody good roster right now…

Moses was ordinary and NSW probably win by 20 with Jerome in the side..

Really? I disagree. I thought Moses was the better of the two NSW halves… could have done a bit more in attack, but everything was going through Cleary (who I thought was a bit ordinary). Moses’ defence was strong. 💪

His defence was good and he made a couple of decent runs (was unlucky to get pulled down when he backed up Barnett I think)…

But his kicking game was crap, Lattrell hardly saw the ball unless he came into the middle looking for it (even To’o try does not happen without miracle hands from Trell because the pass from Moses was late) and I did not think he had much impact at all tbh… I just think Jerome’s running game would have unlocked that left side…

We all see the game differently tho and I thought Jerome should have been in the team to start with soooo…

Man, Barnett was really good for NSW. I thought he was better than the two bigger media names, Haas and Cardigan. I wish we had him at Manly, he is exactly what we need. And Luam is made for SOO

i think age has finally caught up to him sadly… I was putting his below average performances in the manly side down to all the noise around him but he was not much better for QLD where he usually shines regardless of club land

As good as NSW were I'd consider making two changes to the side for SOO2.
1. Dropping T'oo for a taller winger, such as Marky Mark. T'oo is a good player but if Queensland has one advantage it is with the jumping ability of Coates (and Cobbo, who should also be brought into the maroons team).
2. Dropping King. He was solid but is little more than a workhorse. Imagine another powerhouse in the NSW pack like May? They would be fearsome.
I think NSW will stick with its squad, but imo these two changes would make NSW even more dominant.

I'd go with Haumole instead of Young. You want an edge X factor coming on after 30 min against a tiring defense then you can't beat him. With decent service from Moses or Cleary Haumole would be dynamite. Unfortunately with our clueless halves he's getting nothing at the moment.

Agree with that. It won’t happen obviously, but I’d have Moses and Luai as halves. Luai offers more of a running threat which NSW needed to take advantage of the dominance they had in the middle. All Cleary can do is bomb into the quarter, which Moses is arguably better at. But Cleary is the golden child/next immortal, so that won’t happen.

Yep I thought DCE played better than a few other QLD regulars and it didn't help that his forward pack were getting owned. However his days of him breaking the line or managing the game plan are done. There were times when QLD were attacking the line that they looked very disjointed. Thats on DCE. Not QLD's worst but that is irrelevant. Deardon surely has to start at half next game. I understand he came on against a tiring defence however he looked far more likely to break the line and his 1 v 1 defence was excellent.
